Pow! Bam! Zap! Tom Ford Fall 2013 Runway Show

Pow! Boom! Crack! New York Fashion Week was blown away with the comic book influences for Tom Ford Fall 2013 Collection that opened with a BANG!  Ford played with prints, textures, and color schemes! From vibrant floral printed pants, to black and white tribal printed dress, Ford experimented with what “matches” and it worked! Not only was his work experiential, but incorporated bright graphic designs that resembled punches and blows from a child’s comic book! This collection was so fun and the way he worked in bright colors with contrasting textures kept it young in fresh when Fall sometimes can look drab. Tom Ford’s funky collection left fashion week with a giant KAH-POW!

Trendy Tuesday: Menswear

Listen up ladies, we are taking over the working world in style with the menswear trend! Structured suits aren’t just for men and many designers and celebrities have been following in suit! (No pun intended). The key to wearing a structured two piece suit is to add a little feminine touch like a broach, clutch, or colorful heel. Frieda Pinto was seen in a bright red Gucci suit that she added a clutch and butterfly broach to play up the soft and hard edge of the suit. Emma Roberts wore a fun printed suit with a red clutch and sunglasses that was so reminiscent of old Hollywood at a Vogue event!

White suits have also been popular and super chic on stars like Kate Hudson and Taylor Swift! The key to a pulling off a great white suit is to make sure it is tailored properly to your body. Pair it with a red lip and fun pumps that can be either a day or night look!

You can never have too much color in your wardrobe and don’t let a bold colored suit scare you! Rock a bright suit like Nicki Minaj in this bubbble gum pink suit or Rashida Jones in a royal blue suit. You will really make a strong statement with a colored suit and pair it with a black top and fun pumps that can either be a lighter shade of the suit or another corresponding bright color! Just go for it!

When putting together a  menswear inspired you look, you want to start with a great jacket like the Lush Tuxedo Blazer that has a classic structure but with a feminine edge. Next you want to pair it with a blouse that is collared but light and delicate at the same time. Something like the Lush Sweet and Sophisticated Top in Black is button up with a high low hem and shows little skin being sheer. Next, you can still show off your feminine curves with a pair of colored skinny jeans that like the edgy Flying Monkey Snake Print Pant in Black! The best part of the menswear trend is the accessories! Since you are wearing simple structured clothing you can really have fun with your accessorize! Pair your look with a fun pump like the Delicious Rainer Heel in Lipstick Red or the studded Delcious Shakia-S Heel that is to die for! Add a geometric clutch like the Street Level Big Ben Clutch or the snake print Urban Expressions Sass-Attack Clutch in Black as your finishing touch! Next time you go to work or out with your friends, you will definitely command the attention in any room you walk in with a great menswear look! Just don’t let the power go too much to your head!

Spring Trend Alert: Pretty in Pastels

With the new year right around the corner we’re all excited about the spring fashion trends, especially pastels! These subdued hues give off light, feminine vibes that can be styled anywhere from flirty to fierce with the right accents. This isn’t a groundbreaking trend either, pastels are spring staples just like florals and light layers, so feel free to indulge in some cool pastels this season! The spring runway shows were bursting with gentle shades of pink, blue, lilac, and green on pants, dresses, bags, you name it. Alexander McQueen‘s honeycomb yellow gown and Dior‘s metallic pastel bubble dresses might be a little harder to pull off, but will monochrome ensembles like Oscar de la Renta‘s rose shorts and sweater and Carolina Herrera‘s preppy blue and cream look inspire some light-colored fashion choices of your own?

If these pleasantly pale colors have caught your eye, you can snag some pastel pieces from ForElyse.com. Nude heels like these Delicious Rigby Pumps are a great way to work the trend with anything from your LBD to jeans, or maybe this Alythea Shimmer Me Timbers Dress in soft pink. I’m personally in love with this tea green Tara Purse and the minty green Sis Sis Stud-Struck Top to mix these lady-like tones into your everyday wardrobe.

Winter Trend Alert: Winter White

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas… and one that is acceptable after Labor Day! Luckily one of the newest winter trends is head-to-toe Winter White! This light bright trend was seen all over the Fall 2012 runways since designers love to break old cliche fashion rules like “no wearing white after labor day.” The winter white trend is embracing the color of the season, snow, and dressing yourself in white from your top to your shoes! Celebrities like Miranda Kerr and Jennifer Lopez have been spotted in white separates like a blazer, top, pants, and shoes all in white! The red carpet is another great place to spot the winter white trend! Just recently Anne Hathaway wore a white cold shoulder long sleeve gown at the Les Miserables premier while Carmen Electra wore a sophisticated white dress that was accented with gold and had sexy cutouts! You think you can rock the Winter White trend, well of course you can!

Wearing all white can seriously be intimidating and I know this first hand! But that doesn’t mean that you can’t partake in the Winter White Trend! Start by adding some white accessories to your wardrobe like the Head in the Clouds Infinity Scarf in Ivory or the Let it Snow Ear Warmer in White to add a cold weather touch to your outfit! For a holiday party, look like a snow angel in the Alythea Heart of Gold Dress in Ivory with some cute pumps and a clutch! For your family dinner and holiday gatherings put on the Love Stitch Surprise Back Top in White or the Solemio Lace It Up Top Ivory to add a softer touch to your outfit! You could also steel some of the Kardashian- swag and wear the Lush Tuxedo Blazer to a holiday party and rock the menswear and winter white trend all together!

Fall Trend Alert: Amethyst Jewel Tones

“Violet! Your turning violet!” Well at least you will be feeling purple when you fall in love with one of my favorite Fall Jewel Tone Trends: Amethyst! A dusty dark purple stone, the February birthstone derives with meanings of power, protection, and healing. And you will certainly draw power from this color every time you wear it! This color of purple looks great on a relaxed over-sized top or even as a gown. Recently, Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine wore this gorgeous dark violet Gucci dress with a gold headpiece and gold jewelry. The rich color looks so great on a variety of skin tones and is perfectly fitting for the colder seasons.

The great thing about amethyst is the variety of colors it comes in from plum, violet, lavender, and neon. Rock the neon purple American Apparel Summer Jersey V Neck T-Shirt with black skinny jeans and boots! For a dressier occasion, show off your legs in the black and plum color block Solemio Well High-Low There Dress! Have everyone turn purple when they seen you in the eye catching color of the season: amethyst!

Fall trend Alert: Emerald Jewel Tones

Skip your style into the gates of the Emerald City with another great Fall Jewel Tone Trend: Emerald Green!  Seen on the runways and more recently on Rosie Huntington Whiteley in this stunning avant garde Gucci gown! What I love so much about the color emerald is that it comes in an array of colors from hunter to even neon! During Paris Fashion Week, one of the leading trends was the rich hues of emerald seen on an array of different runways in the form of pant suits, gowns, and separates. What’s so great about the color is the richness it brings and sense of royalty! Perfect for the gem tone trend that will have you standing out in a crowd!

You can rock this indulgent color in the form of a color block dress like the Solemio Into the Woods Dress or as a relaxed top like the Solemio Swing Time Top! If you are really daring and into the colored denim trend, try some emerald green skinny jeans like the Be 1 Dark Green Skinny Jeans! Once you start wearing this trend you will definitely start seeing things a little greener!

Fall Jewel Tones: Ruby

Look as delicious as Snow White’s apple; all you wan to do is take a bite! One of my favorite  Fall Trends is definitely Jewel Tones and inspired by all of the lovely gem colors I keep seeing around our shop, we will be doing a 4 part blog about the various types of jewel tones you can rock this fall!

Let’s start with a bang with Ruby! Also known as the birthstone for July babies, the ruby is a deep dark  gem that is rich with different shades of red. among seeing ruby all over the runways of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, many celebrities have been dawning the color of ruby associated so easily with this time of year. Stars like Maria Sharapova, Emma Watson, and Kristen Bell have been spotted in Valentino who is notorious for being fond of the color red!

The great thing about wearing ruby red items is that it is a statement color that literally looks good on everyone! It can be dressed up or down for almost any occasion and will send the message of your confidence. For a sexier look, the Solemio All Wrapped Up Dress is the best color red mixed with a structured modern body con dress! You can also spruce up any old t shirt and jeans with the Solemio Caught in a Net Jacket in Ruby red that adds a trendy touch with its cropped shape and netted back. So if you are feeling drab over the cold gloomy weather, just slip into the jewel tone red to boost your day and your confidence! You’re going to turn heads with this great jewel tone!

Fall Trend Alert: Sequins!

If you love to sparkle, you will definitely love the shimmering designs of the hottest Fall Trend: Sequins! This glittering trend shimmered its way all along the runway from designs like Ellie Saab and Dolce and Gabbana among many others. In the Ellie Saab Fall 2012 Runway Show, her models were literally dripping with jewels, gems, and tons of sequins ranging from tops, pants, and dresses! Saab’s show was absolutely stunning as usual but had so many great sequin looks that I wouldn’t be surprised to see on a red carpet or two! Dolce and Gabbana are no strangers to sequins and that was apparent at their Fall 2012 Runway Show and Spring 2013 Runway show with looks consisting of gold ornate designs on coats to bling-ed out bodysuits. Sequins are a great way to add a little something more to your ordinary fall wear. Try something like the Sis Sis Sequin-cer Tank in Blush with your skinny jeans and boots to jazz it up a little bit! And one thing is for sure, you can never have too many sequins!
