Whew! It is seriously hot in here after seeing Rihanna’s performance of her new hit single “Diamonds,” at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show! During the collection “Dangerous Liaisons,” Rihanna set the mood with her sultry voice and her even hotter look that was a perfect combination of 1800s Victorian with a punk rock edge! The star of this look were her Vintage Chanel Sunglasses that are from the 1994 Chanel Spring Runway. Rihanna turned up the heat with a black satin gown that had a thigh level slit that revealed her black suspender thigh highs! She also accessorized with a pearl choker necklace and black lace gloves. the look was truly fitting for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and stepped up her level of performance, which was phenomenal as always! The sexy ethereal look was perfect for the event and even stole the show from a model or two! Way to turn heads Rihanna!

New York Fashion Week Favs: Louis Vuitton Spring 2013

Who knew an escalator could become a work of art? This much can be said for the always surprising Louis Vuitton Fall 2012 Runway Show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! Models filed down one of the four escalators two by two in similar looks as if they were descending in a high scale mall! A very new and different approach to a typical fashion show, Vuitton did not disappoint! Not only was the setting of the show intriguing, but the clothing was very striking as well! Bright lemon and lime colors were thoughtfully mixed with bold checkered graphic prints in separates and dresses. A very mod inspired collection, simplicity and structure were a key factor along with the play of neutrals and color. It was a delightfully fresh take on the mod style and I wanted to wear every single look! Hats off to another amazing fashion show from Louis Vuitton!

New York Fashion Week Fav’s: Jason Wu

If you are looking for the hottest young, fresh, trendy designer, you want Jason Wu! I m obsessed with his Spring 2013 line Wu just showed at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week!  Lace and leather were the stronger motifs in Wu’s collection that were so apparently feminine with the detailed cutout, lace patterns, and flattering designs. Wu played up the soft and hard look by mixing structured leather pieces with delicate fabrics and colors. A favorite from fashion critics, we too cannot get enough of Wu’s designs! Let’s just say that if you were a younger up-and-coming star, wearing Jason Wu’s looks would catapult you to the “Trendy It Girl” status overnight! We love you Jason Wu!

Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week 2012: Part II

Part II of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week has had me fantasizing about wearing all of these clothes all week! Let’s start with the designer who seriously knows how to design for women, Miss Donatella Versace! Her Fall 2012 Haute Couture Collection brought me to a place by the beach where the weather is warm and the skirts are short! Tropical and neon colors paired well with the motif of soft and hard in Verscae‘s structured coats and drastic flowing dresses! Needless to say, Versace knows exactly the kind of women who want to wear her clothes!

The last collection that was my personal absolute favorite is the Fall 2012 Collection of Jean Paul Gaultier! Two words: 1920s Boudoir! Gaultier has created a fantasy that began with the first piece that came out on the runway! His structured menswear suits had perfect tailoring and slight feminine touches! His transitions went into modern flapper styles with bright colors and differing fabrics and textures that met with creations that would fit perfectly on the red carpet! Luxurious, decadent, and lavish, Jean Paul Gaultier created a very memorable runway show that screamed couture!

That wraps our Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week! I cannot wait until the next one!

Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week 2012: Part I

Over-the-top… extravagant… magical! All above are needed to describe the amazing creations that float down the runways of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week Fall 2012! This year in Paris, all of the well know high fashion designers pulled out all the stops for any designers dream, Haute Couture! For those of you who are new to fashion, haute couture fashion is very ethereal, dramatic, and takes the eye to a more creative universe! Designers like Armani, Valentino, Versace, Chanel and many more created truly phenomenal collections that most women and men could ever dream of wearing! In this two part blog series, I am going to share with you some of my favorites from this years Haute Couture Runway shows!

The first show I wanted to share was the amazing Giorgio Armani in his collection Armani Prive’ which included inspirations from structured menswear to dreamy starry night skies. Armani took the audience through a journey of a modern woman from day to night. Impeccable tailoring mingled well with the pastel color pallet, not to mention the femininely structured hats and veils completing this collection!

Classic and chic is the perfect way to describe the Chanel Haute Couture Fashion Show! The Chanel show had a little bit of everything any woman would ask for in a wardrobe. With classic structured designs from coats to suits flowed into a 1920s inspired selection of dresses which then transitioned into modern designs and trendy modern colors from neon to pastel. All of the pieces had a strong feminine motif and were classic and modern all wrapped into one!

Blogger Spotlight: Mamalovespapa at For Elyse Fashion Show

ForElyse Fashion Show

By Morgan Fairchild of Mamalovespapa Blog

A few weeks ago I was a part of a fashion show with For Elyse for the annual In Motion Fitness (the gym I go to) Member’s Appreciate Party. This was the first year that they’ve had a fashion show as a part of the event and it was such a hit. (And, I might have asked Eric how it felt to be married to a runway model because I’m cool like that.)

For Elyse is a local Chico brick and mortar store and recently they’ve opened an online shop. They have a great selection of clothing and accessories and I know that every time I go in I’ll find something (or a lot of things) that I love.

Check out the For Elyse shop and blog. You can also see more pictures from the fashion show on their Facebook page.

A Sea of Color: Triya Rio de Janeiro Fashion Show

Walking on a rainbow would be my best way to describe the Triya fashion show at the Rio De Janeiro Fashion Week 2012! In Brazil this past week, many designers showcased their Summer 2012 collections but one in particular caught my eye in a big way! The Triya Swimwear Fashion Show was so amazing to watch because not only were the colors of the rainbow displayed in a unique runway design, but the swimwear itself was truly unique! Bright colors paired with intricate designs put a new spin on swimwear! With looks ranging from bikinis, tankinis, and one-pieces, many of the swim suits had interesting patterns and prints while others had great use of cutouts all throughout the design. Triya really stepped up to creating a collection that was very different then other swimwear lines which can be so hard to do with such little fabric!

Along with the wonderful colors of the collection and the runway, the makeup for the Triya fashion show was just as colorful! With tribal inspirations, the makeup on the models was literally like oil pastel paintings around their eyes. Their makeup resembled rough brush strokes on a canvas and it was truly beautiful! Bringing these kinds of colors together made this show look more thought out and was displayed as if it were art. Such a dessert for the eyes and you can’t help but want more!

Falling From the Heavens: Whimsical Burberry Porsum Fashion Show

Sometimes something as delicate as snow can turn the ordinary into the extraordinary! My obsession for fashion shows is certainly growing especially for the more artistic shows such as the Burberry Porsum Fall 2012 Fashion Show! As usual, Burberry created a line with chic and sophisticated looks for the modern Manhattan woman! Dark colors and fabulous separates such as trench coats, skirts, tops, and pants where each complimented with a feminine belt and gloves as each model fiercely walked down the runway. The finale was when the magic started to happen! As the models came out for their final walk, each was carrying a Burberry umbrella, or parasol if you will, while soft snow flakes began to fall from the ceiling. The allusion of the snowing inside left the viewers with an inspiration of winter as these clothes proved to be functional for the cold weather months! The snow falling enchanted the runway creating a whimsical daydream that left the audience and critics breathless!

Louis Vuitton Merry-Go-Round Fashion Show

The whirl wind of fashion is an outlet for the most creative minds of the fashion world. Recently I stumbled upon a photo of the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Show and I was amazed by what I saw! Instead of  the predictable long rectangular runway, a curtain was draw up to reveal a vintage style carousal with white riding horses! Upon the horses were the Louis Vuitton models looking prim and proper in their spring-wear ensembles!

As the music began to play, the carousal began to turn and each model would begin her walk around the carousal showcasing spring jackets, dresses, and bags embellished with the Louis Vuitton logo. The cohesive collection consisted of pastels and sheer prints for a high class woman during the breath of Spring.

Needless to say, this runway show was certainly interesting on a whole other level. The essence of the merry-go-round took me through a playful and intriguing fantasy! I was further enchanted by the show and level of creativity for fashion shows has been raised!

Paris Fashion Week 2012: Makeup Trends

Paris Fashion Week 2012 is in full swing and the creativity among the different designers is pouring out with each model that saunters down the runway! One intriguing factor of fashion week is not only the gorgeous lines but the choice of makeup the designers use to emphasize their ensembles. The trend this year among designers alike has been much focus on or around the eyes. Bold eye shadows, glitter brows, colored mascara and even futuristic visors have been the spotted on many models from the shows of Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, and Stella McCartney! Being playful with the eyes emphasizes the overall look without taking away from the clothing!

Miu Miu Fall Collection 2012 runway show consisted of eye makeup that reflected tribal elements! Every model had a shimmer white eye shadow with layers of light blue and was accent with black dots in patterns that were unique to every model’s look and face. Miu Miu created looks that were tribal inspired for the modern woman!

Contrasting to this was Alexander McQueen who focused on the eye with interesting Visor Shades that most would register as futuristic and very Haute Couture! The harshness of the shades pair nicely with the soft and structure pieces that glided down the runway. Futuristic but soft all wrapped into one!

Chanel Fall 2012 runway show was menswear inspired looks with a futuristic twist on the makeup! Each model had a clean natural look with silver, blue, or purple glitter eyebrows! The focus on the eyebrows gave a masculine feel to this collection, but some to me reminded me of Spock from Star Trek, or Spock’s sister at least! The glitter eyebrows made this collection a strong one that was wearable for very confident and assured woman!

Blue was the favorite color of mascara for designer Stella McCartney during her Fall 2012 Runway show! McCartney’s models had a fresh clean face with bright
blue mascara. The little color in their eyelashes made them look soft without drawing too much attention away from the clothes. The blue mascara made the models look fresh, awake, and almost gave them a twinkle when the light hit their eyes!
