A dusty dark purple stone, the February birthstone derives with meanings of power, protection, and healing. And you will certainly draw power from this color every time you wear it! This color of purple looks great on a relaxed over-sized top or even as a gown. Recently, Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine wore this gorgeous dark violet Gucci dress with a gold headpiece and gold jewelry. The rich color looks so great on a variety of skin tones and is perfectly fitting for the colder seasons.

Watercolor Inspired Outfits

Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder and I could not help but catch my breath when I came across these amazing watercolors by Italian artist Silvia Pelissero! Her paintings are very moving with a unique story behind each piece. Pelissero utilizes many different types of techniques from oil, watercolor, chalk, and many others to express individual emotions in her colorful faces! Being a huge art enthusiast, I thought it would be fun to create some daring outfits inspired by her amazingly colorful pieces!

Our first outfit is based on this gorgeous blue and pink painting called “Garden in the Ceiling.” To correspond with the colors, we paired the Toska Love Me Top in Pink with the Flying Monkey Color Splash Jeans in Light Teal! The bold colors in this outfit reflect the trendy pastel colored skinny jeans and have a bold colorful statement that you can’t help but admire!

Pelissero’s next painting exudes a romantic nature after being call “Almost Lover,” consisting of colder shades of purple and blue. For this inspired outfit, we paired the romantic Sugar Lips Dressed in Lace Top since it has an interesting asymmetrical hem and delicate lace details. Keeping with the pastel purple hues we added the Planet B Colored Jegging in Lavender which are trendy and sweet all in one!

This last outfit was inspired by the painting named “Opale,” which is very haunting and alluring with the girls green eyes! After I saw this painting I knew the Flying Monkey Jeggings in White add the essences of the white in the girls hair and the Blu Pepper Pistachi-Foam Top in Mint captures the color of her eyes! Such a cute outfit that will have you looking trendy and intriguing to anyone you pass by! Sure to catch his eye!

Style Tips: How to Wear Sheer Clothing

Wearing sheer clothing can seriously be a challenge. Knowing what the right undergarments are for a sheer piece of clothing can either make or break an outfit!I know I have had my difficulties with sheer clothing and this week’s style tip is how to wear sheer clothing!

When wearing something sheer you need to take into account a couple different questions: what function are you going to, which is the right undergarment, will this be appropriate, and are you really going to be comfortable wearing this piece? When answering the first question, think about the occasion you are going to. If this is a wedding or family function, you’ll most likely want to wear a color complimenting tank underneath like the Zenana tanks below because you don’t want to be showcasing your goods to your grandparents or anyone else for that matter!

The question of which is the right undergarment to wear is a judgement call on your behalf. If you are wearing a white blouse, then pair it with a white or tan tank underneath. You can even pair it with a colorful tank if you like. If you want to showcase a little more skin and go with the essence of the top being sheer, you can always pair a bandeau bra with your top. I like to pair a colorful bandeau bra with a top that is in the same color scheme. For example, if I am wearing a sheer orange top, I might pair a nude bandeau or a floral print bandeau that is more red. The choice is up to you but I try to incorporate my bandeau into my look and not just try to hide it! Try the Toska Blue Lace Bandeau Bra to make your bra more apparent or the Sis Sis Lace Backed Bandeau in Nude for more subtle coverage!

When you think about “will this be appropriate” goes back to what kind of function you are going to. If you’re going out dancing with your friends, a sheer top would be fun and sexy but would not be the same if you were going to a family dinner, at least with my family! You want to make sure you are showing the appropriate amount of skin for the right occasion. An example would be this sheer top below called the Solemio Kiki Top which can be worn to to any occasion with the right undergarments. If you were attending a family function you might pair it with a tank, otherwise wear it with a bandeau bra for a sexier look!

The last question is a big one that I always have to ask myself when I am in the dressing room before I even buy sheer clothing: will you be comfortable in this? If you find yourself constantly adjusting the clothing or don’t like the line of your pant being seen this is probably not the right top for you. You want to feel at your very best when you wear clothing and it should reflect your personality and personal style. If you are constantly picking or adjusting it, you are taking away from people looking at you for you. They will be able to read that you are uncomfortable! If you are daring enough to wear a sheer top like the Solemio Mia Top in Cobalt Blue, pair it with a nude bandeau pictured below or you could pair it with a navy bandeau or tank. Whatever makes you feel the best!

So remember, when buying something that is sheer think about where and when you will wear it, what to wear under it, and if you will really be comfortable in it! You want to draw attention to yourself with class and because of your smile not because a certain body part is showing! If you need to find more tanks and bras for sheer clothing, check out For Elyse and their selection of Zenana Tanks that are perfect for layering and their selection of intimates! Happy Shopping!
