Battle On The Red Carpet: Spring Breakers Edition

It’s probably safe to say that one of the more controversial movies released this spring was Spring Breakers. Disney Channel Alums Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens co-star in this gratuitous spring break romp, and each made their own unique mark on the red carpet at the premiere. At the Los Angeles premiere, Selena Gomez wore a stunning, belted, cherry red gown by Reem Acra. With Delicate cutouts and her hair styled in an easy, loose curled style, Gomez looked fantastic. Vanessa Hudgens also chose a statement dress, wearing a Naeem Khan beaded dress with a full, feathered skirt with a high slit to show off her gams (channeling Angelina Jolie, maybe?). In my mind, this round definitely goes to Gomez, as every detail was impeccable and worked well with her natural skin tone.

Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens at Spring Breakers Premiere

At the premiere in Germany, Gomez opted again for a backless number, wearing an edgy Atelier Versace jacket/pants combo. Backless trends can be hard to pull off, but she pulls it off effortlessly. Hudgens also looked great at the German premiere, wearing a Naeem Khan sequined, floral gown. This was a tough call, because I do love the strong, sexy style that Gomez exudes, but this round goes to Hudgens simply because she looked radiant in her floral number.

Spring Breakers German Premiere

At the Paris premiere of Spring Breakers, the girls seemed to both up the ante, and take some fashion risks. Gomez wore a Gucci dress with Jimmy Choo heels, while Hudgens chose Rafael Cennamo dress. Gomez cut a cute figure in a dress that was surprisingly daring with its loose-fitting and low-cut back. Hudgens looked beautiful in her pale pink gown, but the thick fabric and awkward length seemed to add some bulk to her small frame. This round (as you may have guessed), goes to Gomez again, giving her the win! Click on the images above to see our selection of cocktail dresses and share with us who YOU think won!

Walking the Yellow Brick Road at the Oz premeires

With Oz: The Great and Powerful opening over the weekend, we thought we’d look back at what the leading ladies wore to the premieres in London, Hollywood, and Tokyo. Down the yellow brick road we go!

London

Mila Kunis‘s ruffled Alexander McQueen dress looked like a leftover relic of the Civil War era. The ruffles and heavy draping overwhelmed her small frame, and the general look of this dress had me thinking it would be more comfortable at a hoe down rather than a film premiere.

Rachel Weisz looked stunning in a slinky 1940′s inspired gown from Micheal Kors. The fitted bodice, belt, and ruching at the hip complemented her gorgeous figure, and the color, while dangerously close to washing her out, looked lovely paired with her dark hair and berry colored lip.

Michelle Williams stood out against the yellow carpet in a beautiful royal blue tea length dress from Burberry. The photographs picked up the subtle texture of the feathers, including hints of emerald.  She broke up the dress with a black leather belt to complement her small waist as well as give the eye some interest.

Hollywood

Mila paired a tea length 50′s inspired frock from Dolce and Gabbana with bow-topped pumps in a similar shade. To bring some color to the look she added a pair of over-sized vintage looking purple earrings, and kept her hair soft to avoid looking too much like a retro prom queen.

Rachel turned heads in a simple red gown by Victoria Beckham. She wore her hair slicked back in a bun and kept her make up clean, which gave this look a kind of sporty chic vibe. Overall I find this a bit blah, though it does show off her amazing figure.

Michelle wore a bejeweled dress from Prada with strappy black heels. The right side has a high slit that showed off a tiny pair of black boy shorts. She wore heavy 60′s inspired black eyeliner, which gives this look distinct Mod vibes.

She’s also started growing out her pixie cut, a look she’s been sporting for some time now. This makes me a bit sad, as the pixie looked perfect on her, but then again, there’s always a time to try something new!

Tokyo

Unfortunately, only Ms. Weisz was able to attend the premiere in Tokyo, as the other two actresses were busy with prior commitments. Rachel sported soft curls parted to one side, reminiscent of Old Hollywood, a rampant trend on the red carpet this season. She wore a strapless satin dress by Lanvin; its deep raspberry color looking lovely paired with her dark hair. She went with a dark smokey eye and nude lips to play up the femme fatale vibes. It must have been cold in Japan, because she was also often seen covered up with a furry white coat!

Jennifer Lawrence Award Season Round-Up

Due to her fantastic performance in Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer Lawrence has been making the rounds at all the major award shows this season. Her stylist, Rachel Zoe, has been working hard to keep her in head-turning gowns (and one pantsuit!) fit for an Academy Award winner. Wearing Dior Haute Couture more often than not, Lawrence has made her mark on the red carpet, sticking to monochromatic colors with clean silhouettes.

Red Carpet Season: Oscars Best/Worst Dressed

Red carpet season is at a wrap and went out with a a bang at the 2013 Academy Awards in Hollywood, California! Celebrities brought out their best for the Oscar red carpet and there were so many that did not disappoint! But as always there were a few that lingered the question, “What were you thinking?!” Here are my best and worst picks from the 2013 Oscar Red carpet!

Best Dressed:

Hands down, best dressed had to be Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive! The Zero Dark Thirty best actress nominee looked like a true movie star in this nude curve hugging gown that had a detailed beaded design that just enhanced her form! The color of the gown really complimented her red hair that she wore half parted with curls along with modern earrings and a red lip to tie the whole look together! Jessica may not have won the Oscar, but she won in my heart as Best Dressed!

Runner Up for Best Dressed:

Big winner of the night, Jennifer Lawrence looked stunning in this white Dior Haute Couture gown! Even though Jennifer took a tumble walking up the stairs to accept her award, she looked gorgeous while falling! With her hair back and simple diamond earrings, Jennifer made this structured almost bridal looking dress look young and fresh with a thin chain necklace that she wore backwards! Way to go Jennifer! We love you just the way you are!

Best Dressed List:

There were so many great looks on this red carpet it was so hard to choose who was the best! Nominee Amy Adams looked soft and elegant in a grey ruffle Oscar De La Renta gown that made her look like she was floating down the red carpet. Trend-setter Kerry Washington looked spring-y fresh in a coral beaded Miu Miu gown that complimented her lovely skin. Performer and former Oscar winner, Jennifer Hudson, wore something different with this blue scale Roberto Cavalli gown that showed off all of her hard work on her body and long straight black hair with bangs screen diva!! One thing I love about Zoe Saldana is that she always takes fashion risks and she certainly did in this Alexis Mabille high low gown that looked stunning on her! Performer and former Best Actress winner Charlize Theron showed off her new pixie hair for a recent roll and statuesque form in this white peplum Christian Dior gown. Going with an edgier gun metal metallic dress, nominee Naomi Watts looked amazing in this custom Armani Prive that made her one of the best on the red carpet!

Worst Dressed:

Sorry to say, but Anne Hathaway was my worst dressed of the night, not like she would care since she won the Best Supporting Actress award for Les Miserables. Even though I am so happy for her, I expected a lot more from her as a nominee to pull out all the stops. This was her moment and when I looked at this Prada gown, all I could see was her nipples which was so distracting. Anne commented that she was supposed to wear a Valentino and that probably would have been the better choice.

Dream Come True: Marchesa Fall 2013 Collection

When I saw the Marchesa Fall 2013 Runway show at NY Fashion Week, like always I was blown away! Marchesa is so dedicated to crafting not just clothes but works of art. Their unique composition of embroidered detailing, perfect tailoring, and feminine structures allows them to create gorgeous one-of-a-kind pieces. This collection wash not a let down! With a romantic baroque theme, Marchesa played with soft shapes that worked well with floral embroidered fabric along with structured gowns and pant suits; there was something for everyone in this collection! I know that we can definitely expect to see star lights wearing some of these gowns down the red carpet and will be praised for Best Dressed because Marchesa is made for stars!

Heart on a Sleeve: Burberry Fall 2013 Heart- Inspired Runway

Love was in the air at the Burberry Prorsum Fall 2013 Runway show at New York Fashion Week! With the inspirations of Valentine’s Day, star-crossed models walked in Burberry fashions that struck your heart as soon as they turned the corner. With a color pallet of red, black, white, and taupe, the collection lent a romantic vibe with heart printed dresses, feminine cut coats, and sexy curve hugging body con dresses! Burberry kicked up the heat with the use of leather, studs, gold collars and belts along with a series of heart shaped stones on a few of the dresses. Burberry’s easy-to-wear collection a fantasy that jetted us to Paris to find our true love!

Pow! Bam! Zap! Tom Ford Fall 2013 Runway Show

Pow! Boom! Crack! New York Fashion Week was blown away with the comic book influences for Tom Ford Fall 2013 Collection that opened with a BANG!  Ford played with prints, textures, and color schemes! From vibrant floral printed pants, to black and white tribal printed dress, Ford experimented with what “matches” and it worked! Not only was his work experiential, but incorporated bright graphic designs that resembled punches and blows from a child’s comic book! This collection was so fun and the way he worked in bright colors with contrasting textures kept it young in fresh when Fall sometimes can look drab. Tom Ford’s funky collection left fashion week with a giant KAH-POW!

Music’s Biggest Night: 2013 Grammy Awards Best/Worst Dresses

Best Dressed Winner: Rihanna in Alaia
Rihanna
stunned everyone with her appearance in this coral red custom Alaia chiffon dress! The sheer panels in the front showed off a little skin while the open back and long train created an air of elegance! Not only did the dress look gorgeous on her, but her hair, makeup and accessories screamed “Star!” Rihanna by far won best dressed in my eyes because she surprised me with such a soft feminine look when she tends to dress hard and edgy. Love this look from Rihanna!

Runners up for Best Dressed:

Rihanna was not the only star who brought the glam on the Grammy’s red carpet! Kelly Rowland brought the meaning of “cutouts” to like in this Georges Chakra gown! Katy Perry never looked better in this mint green Gucci gown that showed off her best assets! Jennifer Lopez had a leg on the competition in a black satin Zuhair Murad gown that also complimented her flawless hair and makeup! New mom Alicia Keys brought bondage back in this black Alaia gown that showed off her rockin bod with fun cutouts!

Mad for Musical Men:

Sticking with the classics, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z looked so handsome in modern tuxedos with with a bow-tie for a classic edge! Blue was a popular color on the carpet for most musical men from Grammy nominee Frank Ocean, John Mayer, Drake, and John Legend. No one was singing the blues when these guys walked the red carpet!

Worst Dressed: Beyonce

Sorry B, you looked amazing at the Super Bowl Half Time Show, but this jumpsuit by Osman Studio was not glam enough for the Grammy Awards! The Grammy’s are all about expressing yourself as an artist and this was just blah. The fit did show off her curves and her amazing behind, but I’ve seen her look better was disappointed in this look. Turn up the heat next time! We know you have it, we actually watched the Super Bowl Show!

So Haute! Paris Spring 2013 Couture Fashion Week Pt. II

Paris Couture Fashion Week was so amazing we needed to split it into a series of blogs! There is just too much greatness to pass up!

Dior Haute Couture

Dior never disappoints during fashion week and this year definitely brought a clear point of view. One of the best parts of the show was the runway itself which gave a Tim Burton feel with the white runway contrasting with whimsical mounds of grass and tall spring blooming trees! With clean lines, structured pant suits, and asymmetrical sheer cutouts, Dior was uniquely innovative this year! With the coming of spring, there was also an abundance of floral prints that were textured with embroidery and beading. Such an interesting collection, Dior will certainly been seen on many red carpets this upcoming year!

Chanel Couture

If you really want to step into another world, just check out the Chanel Couture runway show! Such a strong point of view from designer Karl Lagerfield, this Chanel collection reflected a darker side with its signature tweed suits but also played with lace insets, cutouts, and graphic floral prints. The finale of dresses was the most indulgent part; the dresses where a silver white with beading, lace, and feathers that looked straight out of a ball from Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice. Paired with the rustic English natural background, this couture collection from Chanel transported us to the high society England and I didn’t want to leave! Stunning!

So Haute! Paris Spring 2013 Couture Fashion Week Pt. I

Its so haute in here! Yes its that time of your… Paris Couture Fashion Week! The most artistic display of fantasy clothing were there are no limits to what designers can create! One of the best innovative weeks of fashion that separates the seamstresses from the designers! This year was no exception! High fashion designers presented their best work and left it all on the runway! Here are some of my favorites from this week of fashion fantasy!

Valentino

One of the more iconic designers of our time, Valentino did not disappoint this year! The haute couture runway was simply breathtaking! Sticking with a simple color pallet of red, white, and black, the dynamic design duo created pieces that had innovative baroque embroidery, created interesting shapes that are somewhat controversial, played with the dynamics of sheer fabric, and as always gave a lot of texture from lace to feathers to beading and embroidery. The Valentino Couture Collection was simply stunning and I’m sure we will see these pieces on a red carpet for sure!

Jean Paul Gaultier

Gypsies, tramps and thieves! The Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Collection reflected the story of the bohemian life! Gaultier created a scene of dresses with bold bright prints, lightweight floral dresses in bright hues of plum, and structured pant suits that pushed the envelope of cutouts.  For any goddess that lives to the beat of her own drum, Gaultier’s collection was a trip into the romantic life of La Boheme!
