Style Challenge: Chambray Shirts

Introducing Chambray into your wardrobe is an easy way to inject a classic/clean feel into your look, but it can be tricky to style. This week we thought it would be fitting to show you some easy ways to wear Chambray. First for a casual look, Paige wore our BLVD Blue Skies Top (available in store only),  Lucy Paris Lace Shorts, and the Sis Sis Tube Top.

Chambray Shirt OutfitIn our next look, we have Paige in the Flying Monkey Jeggings, the BLVD Into the Blue top, The Jillian Handbag, some nude wedges, a pair of lavender sunglasses and a long gold necklace. I love this look because while it looks really fresh and clean, it’s not overly fussy or complicated.

Take Me Out To The Ballgame…

Opening Day for Major League Baseball (MLB) is March 31, kicking off with the Astros vs. the Rangers. For all you fashionistas who are MLB fans, (or get dragged to games by their significant others), this post is for you! It can be a challenge when dressing for a baseball game to look stylish yet casual, and still be prepared for possible cold weather as the game stretches from day to night. Never fear! For Elyse is coming to your rescue, with a slew of outfit inspiration, perfect for looking your best at summer sporting events.

If painting your face, or wearing head-to-toe team  colors isn’t your style, but you’d still like to give a nod to your favorite team, consider our extensive collection of eyeshadows! Coming in a wide assortment of colors, our deluxe shadows go on sheer, but can be layered for a stronger look to suit your mood. Although our site has every color under the sun, my two favorites are the Cape Blue, a rich royal blue, and the Silver Blue, a soft, sheer color that looks really fantastic layered with other hues.

For a casual look that holds an edge, try the Flying Monkey Color Splash Skinny Jeans in Magenta, paired with the Lush Bringing Lacey Back Top in white. These two pieces work great together, but don’t look too fussy or overly styled.

Baseball Game Outfit

One of the great things about this outfit is that a wide variety of shoe choices will look great, and you can tailor your choice based on what kind of weather you’re contending with. For warm-weather games, try the Delicious Clean Wedges or the City Classified Delva Sandals.

Summer SandalsIf you’re worried that when the sun goes down you might get a little chilly, try the Soda Faddy Flats, or the Fortune Dynamic Oak Boots, which look great with skinny jeans or tights and a skirt.

Shoes To Wear To Baseball Game

Another look I love for any sporting event is the Sis Sis Take Me Out Top, paired with some Flying Monkey Color Splash Jeans in any color. Here I chose to pair them with the Rose color to soften up the look, but they’re really versatile.

Baseball Outfit

Layering is always a great idea for baseball games, as they tend to stretch from day to night. Packing a scarf or jacket is a good call, and something you’ll probably be glad you have later. Try the Butterscotch Infinity Scarf, or the Boho Striped Scarf for an easy look that pairs well with most outfits.

Scarves

Try topping off your look with some jewelry that reads as classy but casual. I love the Tribal Locket, or the Fallen Leaf Necklace. If Earrings are more your speed, try the Helena Earrings,

Jewelry

Lastly, a great bag to take to the game is the Saddle Up Stud Crossbody Bag, which is small and casual, but can still hold your wallet, keys and cell phone.

Pastels, Florals and Lace, Oh My!

Spring is finally beginning to show itself all around us, from the daffodils peeking their yellow heads out, to the tempestuous changes in the weather–sun one minute, spring showers the next! We here at For Elyse are really excited that the season is changing, because it means we can integrate fun floral, lace, light wash denim, pastels, and pieces featuring cute cutouts into our wardrobe. It’s been exciting seeing new pieces in spring colors arriving every day, so I thought it’d be apt to write a post dedicated to cycling some spring into your everyday look.

One of the absolute easiest ways to inject a little spring into your wardrobe is to break out the light wash denim. Wearing a jacket or pants in a lighter color can deliver an unexpected freshness, and brighten up your whole look in a way that’s easy for anyone to achieve. A couple of our favorites that have arrived recently are the Miss Me Couture White Denim Jacket, and the Flying Monkey Light Wash Skinny Jean.

Light Wash Denim

Nothing says “spring!” like pastels, and we have such an abundance of these soft colors on our site that it was hard to narrow it down to my favorite pieces we offer. The Cut It Out Lace Dress from Lush is one of my favorites (and one I couldn’t resist adding to my own closet). The boning and layered fabric in the bust area of this delicate dress gives coverage without sacrificing the svelte lines of the design. This dress shouts “garden party!” or “picnic!” to me, and it’s a great piece to take from spring to summer. Sis Sis has also been coming out with some really great things in spring-centric pastels and sheer materials, and the Dontcha Flow Tank is one that gives off an easy, wearable vibe, and can be easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Spring Looks From For Elyse

Spring is all about showcasing feminine pieces, and small details like lace or cutouts can help lend your outfit a softer look, while still keeping things interesting. The designers we love, like Lush, Solemio and Sis Sis have been sending us tons of really great pieces that feature these sweet little details. The Lush Bring Lacey Back Top comes in either white or teal, and features a cropped hem and lace tulip opening in the back, with little gold buttons that lend a delicate vibe to this top. The lace look isn’t just restricted to tops, as the Lucy Paris Lace Shorts clearly prove. These sweet little shorts can soften up your outfit in a snap, try wearing these with some embellished flats and a casual top for a look that will turn heads.

Lace Details from For Elyse

Floral prints are everywhere, and if you’re looking for one really great spring statement piece, floral is a perfect choice. Ranging from large print to small, and in every color imaginable, floral is the perfect addition to freshen up your wardrobe. I love the Floral Skinny Ankle Pants from Flying Monkey, and the Sis Sis Joys Of Spring Dress. Floral pants make a strong statement, so be sure to keep your top half looking simple. The Joys of Spring Dress is dead simple to wear, and features sweet details like a ruffle along the neckline, and racerback with a white lined zipper.

Florals from For Elyse

Above all, spring is about the fresh renewal of the season, so don’t be afraid to try new things! Inject a delicate and feminine vibe into your wardrobe with statement pieces softened up with ladylike details and you can’t miss. For more style inspiration, head over to our Spring Lookbook!

Outfit Of The Week: Green!

Well kids, it’s that time again. We here at For Elyse see so many fabulous styles sent to our store that it can be overwhelming, but once a week we try to wade through the loveliness to handpick an outfit composed of our favorite pieces.

Outfit Of The Week

For me, this week it was all about unexpected splashes of color and hardware that was simple, yet made a statement. I love the variety of color that Flying Monkey has been sending us in their pants, with everything from tea green to gold snake print, to an inky black that gives off a rocker leather vibe.

Outfit Of The Week

Seeing as how our theme this week is “green,” I pulled these teal Flying Monkey skinny jeans and paired them with the Sis Sis All of a Stud-en top. I love the cap sleeves, which are embellished with little gold beads, giving it a sweet but slightly hard edge. Oversized envelope-style clutches have hit the scene in a big way lately, and the MMS Take The Reins Clutch complemented the other pieces perfectly.

Outfit Of The Week

I love mixing soft details with a hard edge, so to bring out the hardware of the clutch and top, I added the City Classified Delva Sandal in Black. For a soft touch, we topped the outfit off with a hammered gold circle necklace, available in store only. For a similar look try our Fallen Leaf Necklace available in multiple colors. There you have it, folks! Go forth and be stylish.

Red Carpet Season: Oscars Best/Worst Dressed

Red carpet season is at a wrap and went out with a a bang at the 2013 Academy Awards in Hollywood, California! Celebrities brought out their best for the Oscar red carpet and there were so many that did not disappoint! But as always there were a few that lingered the question, “What were you thinking?!” Here are my best and worst picks from the 2013 Oscar Red carpet!

Best Dressed:

Hands down, best dressed had to be Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive! The Zero Dark Thirty best actress nominee looked like a true movie star in this nude curve hugging gown that had a detailed beaded design that just enhanced her form! The color of the gown really complimented her red hair that she wore half parted with curls along with modern earrings and a red lip to tie the whole look together! Jessica may not have won the Oscar, but she won in my heart as Best Dressed!

Runner Up for Best Dressed:

Big winner of the night, Jennifer Lawrence looked stunning in this white Dior Haute Couture gown! Even though Jennifer took a tumble walking up the stairs to accept her award, she looked gorgeous while falling! With her hair back and simple diamond earrings, Jennifer made this structured almost bridal looking dress look young and fresh with a thin chain necklace that she wore backwards! Way to go Jennifer! We love you just the way you are!

Best Dressed List:

There were so many great looks on this red carpet it was so hard to choose who was the best! Nominee Amy Adams looked soft and elegant in a grey ruffle Oscar De La Renta gown that made her look like she was floating down the red carpet. Trend-setter Kerry Washington looked spring-y fresh in a coral beaded Miu Miu gown that complimented her lovely skin. Performer and former Oscar winner, Jennifer Hudson, wore something different with this blue scale Roberto Cavalli gown that showed off all of her hard work on her body and long straight black hair with bangs screen diva!! One thing I love about Zoe Saldana is that she always takes fashion risks and she certainly did in this Alexis Mabille high low gown that looked stunning on her! Performer and former Best Actress winner Charlize Theron showed off her new pixie hair for a recent roll and statuesque form in this white peplum Christian Dior gown. Going with an edgier gun metal metallic dress, nominee Naomi Watts looked amazing in this custom Armani Prive that made her one of the best on the red carpet!

Worst Dressed:

Sorry to say, but Anne Hathaway was my worst dressed of the night, not like she would care since she won the Best Supporting Actress award for Les Miserables. Even though I am so happy for her, I expected a lot more from her as a nominee to pull out all the stops. This was her moment and when I looked at this Prada gown, all I could see was her nipples which was so distracting. Anne commented that she was supposed to wear a Valentino and that probably would have been the better choice.

Dream Come True: Marchesa Fall 2013 Collection

When I saw the Marchesa Fall 2013 Runway show at NY Fashion Week, like always I was blown away! Marchesa is so dedicated to crafting not just clothes but works of art. Their unique composition of embroidered detailing, perfect tailoring, and feminine structures allows them to create gorgeous one-of-a-kind pieces. This collection wash not a let down! With a romantic baroque theme, Marchesa played with soft shapes that worked well with floral embroidered fabric along with structured gowns and pant suits; there was something for everyone in this collection! I know that we can definitely expect to see star lights wearing some of these gowns down the red carpet and will be praised for Best Dressed because Marchesa is made for stars!

Heart on a Sleeve: Burberry Fall 2013 Heart- Inspired Runway

Love was in the air at the Burberry Prorsum Fall 2013 Runway show at New York Fashion Week! With the inspirations of Valentine’s Day, star-crossed models walked in Burberry fashions that struck your heart as soon as they turned the corner. With a color pallet of red, black, white, and taupe, the collection lent a romantic vibe with heart printed dresses, feminine cut coats, and sexy curve hugging body con dresses! Burberry kicked up the heat with the use of leather, studs, gold collars and belts along with a series of heart shaped stones on a few of the dresses. Burberry’s easy-to-wear collection a fantasy that jetted us to Paris to find our true love!

Pow! Bam! Zap! Tom Ford Fall 2013 Runway Show

Pow! Boom! Crack! New York Fashion Week was blown away with the comic book influences for Tom Ford Fall 2013 Collection that opened with a BANG!  Ford played with prints, textures, and color schemes! From vibrant floral printed pants, to black and white tribal printed dress, Ford experimented with what “matches” and it worked! Not only was his work experiential, but incorporated bright graphic designs that resembled punches and blows from a child’s comic book! This collection was so fun and the way he worked in bright colors with contrasting textures kept it young in fresh when Fall sometimes can look drab. Tom Ford’s funky collection left fashion week with a giant KAH-POW!

Music’s Biggest Night: 2013 Grammy Awards Best/Worst Dresses

Best Dressed Winner: Rihanna in Alaia
Rihanna
stunned everyone with her appearance in this coral red custom Alaia chiffon dress! The sheer panels in the front showed off a little skin while the open back and long train created an air of elegance! Not only did the dress look gorgeous on her, but her hair, makeup and accessories screamed “Star!” Rihanna by far won best dressed in my eyes because she surprised me with such a soft feminine look when she tends to dress hard and edgy. Love this look from Rihanna!

Runners up for Best Dressed:

Rihanna was not the only star who brought the glam on the Grammy’s red carpet! Kelly Rowland brought the meaning of “cutouts” to like in this Georges Chakra gown! Katy Perry never looked better in this mint green Gucci gown that showed off her best assets! Jennifer Lopez had a leg on the competition in a black satin Zuhair Murad gown that also complimented her flawless hair and makeup! New mom Alicia Keys brought bondage back in this black Alaia gown that showed off her rockin bod with fun cutouts!

Mad for Musical Men:

Sticking with the classics, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z looked so handsome in modern tuxedos with with a bow-tie for a classic edge! Blue was a popular color on the carpet for most musical men from Grammy nominee Frank Ocean, John Mayer, Drake, and John Legend. No one was singing the blues when these guys walked the red carpet!

Worst Dressed: Beyonce

Sorry B, you looked amazing at the Super Bowl Half Time Show, but this jumpsuit by Osman Studio was not glam enough for the Grammy Awards! The Grammy’s are all about expressing yourself as an artist and this was just blah. The fit did show off her curves and her amazing behind, but I’ve seen her look better was disappointed in this look. Turn up the heat next time! We know you have it, we actually watched the Super Bowl Show!
