The Lazy Girl's Guide to Detoxing

Still in a food coma? Don't worry, we understand it's not an easy task to switch modes after indulging over the holidays. Follow our list of quick remedies that yield big benefits with the LEAST amount of effort. Take on the new year without going into shock! lemon           Okay Grandma, You're Right... Start and end your days with a large cup of hot water with lemon. This is an old school remedy that is not only soothing and refreshing, it also helps to rid your body of toxins before and after you eat. Lemons are a great source of vitamin C and a natural diuretic that aids digestion. fruit juice           Shake It Up It can be a little bit of a battle (especially after a regimen of pumpkin pie and sweets) to choose a healthy fruit and vegetable shake over something that you're craving. With the abundance of juice bars and healthy shake options these days, you won't feel like you're missing out. Now the kale, apple, lemon and pineapple shake may not sound as good as say, mom's apple pie, but trust us, it can become just as addicting when you start to feel the benefits of getting your daily dose of fruits and vegetables. Better yet, make your own with some of these quick and easy recipes! coffee             Put the Starbucks and In-N-Out on a Time Out If you're anything like us, Starbucks and a little fast food here and there was a lifesaver during the hectic holiday season. Try replacing your coffee with green tea if you're in desperate need of a caffeine fix, and replacing red meat with fiber rich foods such as beans or quinoa. We're not suggesting you give up your vanilla lattes and cheeseburgers forever, but a good dose of fiber and a flush of detoxifying fluids will help your body purge unwanted toxins. yoga and meditation             Take a Little Time For Yourself Detoxing is not just about what you're eating or not eating, it's also about putting your mind and body at ease. Even if you only have fifteen minutes, some simple yoga stretches and a few minutes of quiet meditation can do wonders. We hope this helps! Let us know if we're missing anything and what you think of these suggestions in the comments below.
