Skincare Hacks: Kitchen Edition!

Welcome to our latest installment of skincare tips. This week we're giving you a list of skincare hacks! These recipes are easy to replicate, easy on the wallet, and made from ingredients that are probably already in your kitchen! Honey Pat Honey Pat Ingredients: 2 Tablespoons of honey A few dashes of cinnamon (optional) 1 Tablespoon yogurt (optional) 1 Tablespoon mashed avocado (optional) This is a great and simple recipe to add some moisture back into your skin. Simply take about 2 tablespoons of honey, and use your fingers to lightly tap it onto your skin. Leave it on for about 5 minutes, then wash it off with cold water. The naturally occurring emollients will moisturize your skin, and it's fine for sensitive too! If your skin is acne prone, try adding a few dashes of cinnamon into the honey and mixing it up a bit before applying. If your skin is on the dryer side, try adding a tablespoon of yogurt and a tablespoon of avocado for a moisturizing boost! Mask For Oily Skin 1 Ripe banana 1 Tablespoon of honey 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice Mix ingredients together, apply to face. Leave on for 3-5 minutes then wash off with cool water and lightly pat face dry with a towel. Herbal Steam Herbal Steam Ingredients: 4 cups of water 4-5 Tablespoons of herbs 7-8 drops of essential oils This is a great recipe if you've been feeling like your skin is looking a little dull, dry, or tired. Simply bring four cups of water to a boil, then drop in 4-5 tablespoons of herbs or 7-8 drops of essential oils. Depending on what skin type you have, or what sort of effect you're going for, you can tailor the herbs you use. After adding the herbs and essential oils to your water, turn off the heat and cover the water with a lid. Positioning your face a few feet away from the covered water, place a bath towel and over your head, creating a mini steam room for your face. Remove the lid to the water, keeping your face a few feet away from the pot. Slowly move closer to the pot, inhaling deeply. Stay under the towel until the steam dissipates, then splash some cold water on your face. Apply face cream to lock in the moisture.
