Friday Favorite: Summer Movie Classics

Do you remember those summer movies back when you used to watch when you were young? Tales of school being out for the summer, adventure, friendships, and stories of growing up? I do and it definitely takes me back seeing these classic summer themed movies! Since we are right smack in the middle of summer,I thought this week's Friday Favorite would be all of of favorite summer classics! The first summer movie that all of us For Elyse girls love is Now and Then! This coming of age movie followed four young girlfriends who used their summer as a time for fun, adventure, and seeking out the truth of life! Starring child stars like Christina Ricci and Thora Birch, these young girls discover that what they thought they believed was only just make believe and that they were all growing up from their childish routines. A movie about growing up, discovin yourself, and cherising the friendships you have, Now and Then is a classic summer movie that will bring anyone back to their summer vacations! Another All-American summer themed movie is one of my favorites, The Sandlot! Set in Los Angeles 1962, the story follows the summer of main character Scotty Smalls who spends his time in a new city making friends with a group of boys who teach him to play baseball. Along their way of  becoming a team and closer friends, the boys are taunted by "The Beast," a huge junkyard dog who resides in the house next to the field they play in. Scotty and his friends embark on a daredevil journey to retrieve a lost baseball from the beast before they are in serious trouble. The Sandlot is a fun movie about having all the time in the world in summer to play baseball and how the imagination can sometimes run away from you! When you think about summer love, I can't help but think of the sweet summer movie, My Girl with child actors Anna Clumsky and Macaulay Culkin. Set in a funeral home, young Shelly spends her summer with her best friend Thomas J, whom she shares her first kiss with. A movie about life, death, and understanding the world for what it really is, My Girl is one to watch with your girlfriends and reminisce about your teenage years.
