Spring Trend Alert: Pretty in Pastels

With the new year right around the corner we’re all excited about the spring fashion trends, especially pastels! These subdued hues give off light, feminine vibes that can be styled anywhere from flirty to fierce with the right accents. This isn’t a groundbreaking trend either, pastels are spring staples just like florals and light layers, so feel free to indulge in some cool pastels this season! The spring runway shows were bursting with gentle shades of pink, blue, lilac, and green on pants, dresses, bags, you name it. Alexander McQueen‘s honeycomb yellow gown and Dior‘s metallic pastel bubble dresses might be a little harder to pull off, but will monochrome ensembles like Oscar de la Renta‘s rose shorts and sweater and Carolina Herrera‘s preppy blue and cream look inspire some light-colored fashion choices of your own?

New York Fashion Week Favs: Louis Vuitton Spring 2013

Who knew an escalator could become a work of art? This much can be said for the always surprising Louis Vuitton Fall 2012 Runway Show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! Models filed down one of the four escalators two by two in similar looks as if they were descending in a high scale mall! A very new and different approach to a typical fashion show, Vuitton did not disappoint! Not only was the setting of the show intriguing, but the clothing was very striking as well! Bright lemon and lime colors were thoughtfully mixed with bold checkered graphic prints in separates and dresses. A very mod inspired collection, simplicity and structure were a key factor along with the play of neutrals and color. It was a delightfully fresh take on the mod style and I wanted to wear every single look! Hats off to another amazing fashion show from Louis Vuitton!

Red Carpet Season: Trends from the Emmys

Glitz, glamor, and don’t forget to roll out the red carpet! Its my favorite time of the year: the beginning of the red carpet season has just been kicked off with the Prime Time Emmy Awards! TV’s most infamous stars were dressed to impress during the Los Angeles event! What I love most about the Emmys, is that it always takes place at the end of the summer when the weather is still warm and the trends are still as hot as ever!

One of the best trends that was on the Emmy Red Carpet had to be the cool Citrus Breeze that was oh-so-refreshing! Leading ladies such as Julie Bowen, Claire Danes, and Julianne Moore wore more of a neon citrus while ladies such as Kaley Cuoco and Leslie Mann wore gowns with an orange tint! Needless to say, these trends spoke loud and clear on the red carpet and was a breath of fresh air!

 

If you wanted to see a fish out of water, you definitely saw it on the red carpet this year! Many stars chose the “Fish of the Sea” trend that sported many blue hues that looked as deep as the ocean! Stars like Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad and Julianne Hough wore gorgeous ocean colored gowns with incredible detailing that resembled fish scales! Zoe Dechanel and Heidi Klum were as romantic as a rippling reflection in pale pastel blues, while Hayden Panettiere looked like a mermaid caught in a fisherman’s net that left me breathless!

Red is always a great color to wear to an award show because of its strong presence and feminine touch! Many stars looked  absolutely ravishing in red like Kat Dennings in a ruched deep red gown by J. Mendel and Cat Deely in a structured bright red couture gown from Tadashi Shoji. But the stunner of the night in my opinion was definitely comedic actress and writer, Tina Fey, who wore a dark maroon Vivienne Westwood dress that featured a gold embroidered bodice that looked straight out of 18th century Madrid!

 

The Emmy Awards did not disappoint as far as the red carpet went! Celebs came dressed to impress and there were hardly any worst dressed this year! Way to step it up! We can’t wait for the rest of the red carpet season to pick up and dream about wearing all of those designer gowns!

What the Wild Things Wear: Mulberry Fall 2012

Fashion comes in all forms, shapes, and sizes! in the Mulberry Fall 2012 Collection, “Where the Wild Things Are,” was an apparent quirky theme throughout their runway show and ad campaign. The collection consisted of very warm colors like brown and orange with constructive interesting pieces like heavy coats, sweater, and bags perfect for the fall and winter seasons. What was so fun with their theme was the large fuzzy monsters who were too shy to pose for the pictures. The runway was very fun as well with the giant owl-like monsters who greeted the onlookers while the models showed off striking pieces that had original textures like leather, fur, and hair! The Mulberry Fall 2012 collection is straight out of a story book and definitely memorable!

Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week 2012: Part II

Part II of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week has had me fantasizing about wearing all of these clothes all week! Let’s start with the designer who seriously knows how to design for women, Miss Donatella Versace! Her Fall 2012 Haute Couture Collection brought me to a place by the beach where the weather is warm and the skirts are short! Tropical and neon colors paired well with the motif of soft and hard in Verscae‘s structured coats and drastic flowing dresses! Needless to say, Versace knows exactly the kind of women who want to wear her clothes!

The last collection that was my personal absolute favorite is the Fall 2012 Collection of Jean Paul Gaultier! Two words: 1920s Boudoir! Gaultier has created a fantasy that began with the first piece that came out on the runway! His structured menswear suits had perfect tailoring and slight feminine touches! His transitions went into modern flapper styles with bright colors and differing fabrics and textures that met with creations that would fit perfectly on the red carpet! Luxurious, decadent, and lavish, Jean Paul Gaultier created a very memorable runway show that screamed couture!

That wraps our Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week! I cannot wait until the next one!

Citrus Squeeze is the name I have given to this week’s Outfit of the Week! With hues of yellows and oranges being apart of the citrus trend, I had to pull something that reflected this bright and tangy trend! Modeled by our sweet model Sutter, this look is perfect for summer in the essence that it will keep you cool all day long! Wear this outfit to a BBQ or summer date and give everyone a a refreshing burst of lemon and a bite of tangerine!

First lets start with the Toska Bow Tie Top in Yellow! This sheer tank has a special twist when you turn around where sexy open back features a tie at center with four alluring cutouts! Perfect for making a bright lemony first impression! Since we got in the adorable Umgee Lacy Days Shorts in Vanilla! These sugary sweets shorts have a floral lace print with adorable cuffs at top of thigh! Perfect for adding a touch of feminine sugar to this sweet and sour look! To add a pop of color, i added the Toska Coral Lace Bandeau that gives this look a tangerine vibe! To add some sparkle, we added the Soda Brett Flip Flop which features jeweled encrusted straps that look as sweet as sugar on a lemon!

For this season’s Summer Look-book, we decided that the fashion scoop would take place in a local vintage ice cream parlor including various ice cream and homemade candy! With fashions including pastels, white shorts and pants, corals, and mints, this shoot ended with a truly delicious finished product!
