Friday Favoite: What a Stud!

What is that studly object on her sleeve… and her shoes… and her nails?!  How could anyone miss the Stud trend that has been taking over every fashion item in America! Studs have become the new fashion crazy and you can literally put them anywhere such as a jacket, bra, shorts, and even your nails! Studs have become so popular and make it very easy to turn your trendy wardrobe into a rockers dream!

One of my favorite studded pieces has been a strapless bra, but they are so hard to find studded and when you do its kind of expensive! Well I have the solution for you:a DIY Studded Bra Tutorial! This Bra looks great paired with a high waist-ed high low skirt or maxi skirt. You can even do this with a bustier that adds more coverage or even a tube top that has a built in bra.

Here is what you will need:

  • An Old Strapless Bra (tube top, bustier, etc)
  • A dozen or so Studs
  • A pair of pliers
  • A knife

Step One: Take the knife and make a small slit where you want to stud to be.

Step Two: Add the stud and bend down the tines in the back

Repeat step one and two to created a studded pattern that is flattering to your shape! That’s it! A fab studded bra super fast and for about half the price of a pre-made one! Then you will have the satisfaction to say when you receive compliments, “I made it myself!’

Friday Favorite: Ombre, Ombre, Ombre

Ombre! The word that has been falling out of the mouths of everyone in fashion, Hollywood, and every store in America! The ombre trend has swept like wildfire over this past summer season has taken over fashion and beauty! One of the most popular trends has been ombre highlights and worn by celebs like Khloe Kardashian, Drew Barrymore, and Jessica Biel! The ombre highlights trend brought new meaning to grown out room! The trick is when you go into your salon, have your stylist add tons of peak-a-boo highlights to give the ombre affect! You can also go more daring and add colored ombre highlights like Jessie J and Lauren Conrad! Adding pastel tips into your hair can really give you a funky edge that will definitely make you stand out!

The cascading fade from one color to another has been taken to a new level and polished onto nail art! Reflecting the colors of a sunset, the ombre nail trend is great with different shades of pastel in the same color family. The best way to apply is with a makeup spnge, paint the colors onto the sponge and apply over nails. Voula! You will have the cutest ombre nails that will definitely get you so many compliments!

Ombre has swept over the world of fashion as well on the red carpet, the runway, and fashion blogs all over the internet! Just recently, singer Beyonce wore a black and purple ombre dress by Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci at the 2012 Met Gala Awards where she showed off her rocking post-baby body! Singer Cheryl Cole dazzled at Queen Elizabeth’s 60th Diamond Jubilee wearing a stunning Spring 2012 Couture gown by Polish designer Ewa Minge! The black and white ombre dress made Cole look like she was floating as she sang Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now.” Ombre has also been all over the Spring/Summer 2012 Runway shows in forms of dresses, tops, skirts, and shorts!

I know that ombre shorts can either be hard to find or on the pricier side, so here is a quick little DIY Ombre shorts project! Here is what you will need:

  • Jean Shorts
  • Measuring Cup
  • Bottle of liquid dye
  • Bucket
  • Rubber Gloves
  • Water

Step One: Rinse your shorts with water

Step Two: Add 2 gallons of hot water to bucket along with 1/3 cup of dye. Mix well

Step Three: Dip shorts in half way and set for 10 minutes. After the time is up, pull shorts up exposing half of the dyed part. Leave the last part in for another 10 minutes to get a darker shade of color on the bottom.

Step Four: Remove shorts and rinse until the water runs clear. Hang out to dry to let dye set!

There you have it! Easy ombre shorts and trust me you will be feeling trendy every time you wear these beauties!

Blogger Spotlight: Mamalovespapa at For Elyse Fashion Show

ForElyse Fashion Show

By Morgan Fairchild of Mamalovespapa Blog

A few weeks ago I was a part of a fashion show with For Elyse for the annual In Motion Fitness (the gym I go to) Member’s Appreciate Party. This was the first year that they’ve had a fashion show as a part of the event and it was such a hit. (And, I might have asked Eric how it felt to be married to a runway model because I’m cool like that.)

For Elyse is a local Chico brick and mortar store and recently they’ve opened an online shop. They have a great selection of clothing and accessories and I know that every time I go in I’ll find something (or a lot of things) that I love.

Check out the For Elyse shop and blog. You can also see more pictures from the fashion show on their Facebook page.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July Fashionistas! Hope you have an amazing Independence Day and hope you enjoy our July 4th themed blog below!

Happy Birthday USA!

Outfits of the Week: Red, White, and Blue

In a slump over what to wear on July 4th? No worries! We have not one but two Outfit of the Week in honor of the Fourth of July modeled by our For Elyse stylist Macy! Both of these looks can be worn on America’s birthday and are perfect for those high summer temperatures that will be soaring during the week! To keep you cool as a cucumber, try these very patriotic looks!

Our first outfit is perfect for a hot summer day whether it be at a family BBQ or party by the lake, sparkler in hand! You will stay cool and cute in this American Flag inspired outfit!

We started with the Sis Sis Out to Sea Tank in Red because it has a relaxed lightweight feel that will keep you cool and resembles the American Flag! Adding a splash of all American blue, we paired with Celebrity Pink Up All Night Shorts that are a true classic with the dark denim blue color! Because we love accessories, we gave Macy the Emperia Mandy Purse in Blue that is big enough for you to bring your bikini and towel, along with the City Classified Yoana Sandal in Tan and Gold that will keep your feet comfortable even during a water fight!

Our second Outfit of the Week is inspired by the US Armed Forces! If you want to look a little more dressed up for this 4th of July, this is the outfit for you! The colors and accessories are all inspired by the 196os USO pinup girls that will have everyone saluting you as you walk by! Show your American pride with this eye catching look!

Our model Macy is looking like a girl from a USO poster in the Solemio Ode to Sunshine Dress in Cobalt! Strapless electric blue dress has a ruffled detail at bust, elastic waist, and adorable pockets! The back features a tie revealing a cutout open back! Perfectly sweet and sexy all in one! To add more colors from our nation’s flag, we paired the Blake Purse in Red to add a pop of color along with the Delicious Jones Heel in Blue! Adding a little touch of femininity, we put a fake white flower clip in her hair along with some trendy gold and red aviator sunglasses for some swag!

So take a chance this 4th of July and celebrate in style! Whether you want to casual or dressy, proudly wear the colors of our nation red, white, and blue with confidence! And don’t be afraid to mix and match! Its a holiday and its time to have some fun!

Happy 4th of July!
