Spring Fashion 2013 Trend: Sheer

Sheer fashion has been trendy this season and growing fast. From runways to celebrities to here at For Elyse, we’re covering sheer.

 Sheer Runways

These are some of the uses of sheer in Christian Dior’s spring 2013 runway. As you can see below, details on the sheer fabric can really make an article of clothing pop and add the wow factor that you are looking for.

Spring into Corals

Coral was a hot trend on the 2013 runways, with many designers using it to add a pop of color to their Spring collections. Erdem’s runway was blooming with floral dresses featuring coral highlights, while Dior showed long jackets and simple sheath dresses in the bold and bright color. Gucci presented several pieces in a coral with a pinkish hue, which was paired with matching statement jewelery, and Elie Tahari’s Spring RTW looks featured several head-to-toe coral looks.

If any of these looks are inspiring you to add more coral to your closet for Spring, For Elyse has you covered. The Alythea Good Feeling Dress and the Lush Country Strong Dress are perfect to see you through the upcoming summer’s hottest days. The breezy Sis Sis Tail-or Made Top will have you looking stylish at work, and the Solemio Butterfly Effect Top is just the thing you need for summer nights at the farmer’s market. If you’re looking for a more subtle touch of coral, the City Classified Linen Twist Flat would look great with a skinny jean or skirt, while the Gold Drop Earring is the perfect complement to wear to a summer wedding.

Dream Come True: Marchesa Fall 2013 Collection

When I saw the Marchesa Fall 2013 Runway show at NY Fashion Week, like always I was blown away! Marchesa is so dedicated to crafting not just clothes but works of art. Their unique composition of embroidered detailing, perfect tailoring, and feminine structures allows them to create gorgeous one-of-a-kind pieces. This collection wash not a let down! With a romantic baroque theme, Marchesa played with soft shapes that worked well with floral embroidered fabric along with structured gowns and pant suits; there was something for everyone in this collection! I know that we can definitely expect to see star lights wearing some of these gowns down the red carpet and will be praised for Best Dressed because Marchesa is made for stars!

Pow! Bam! Zap! Tom Ford Fall 2013 Runway Show

Pow! Boom! Crack! New York Fashion Week was blown away with the comic book influences for Tom Ford Fall 2013 Collection that opened with a BANG!  Ford played with prints, textures, and color schemes! From vibrant floral printed pants, to black and white tribal printed dress, Ford experimented with what “matches” and it worked! Not only was his work experiential, but incorporated bright graphic designs that resembled punches and blows from a child’s comic book! This collection was so fun and the way he worked in bright colors with contrasting textures kept it young in fresh when Fall sometimes can look drab. Tom Ford’s funky collection left fashion week with a giant KAH-POW!

So Haute! Paris Spring 2013 Couture Fashion Week Pt. II

Paris Couture Fashion Week was so amazing we needed to split it into a series of blogs! There is just too much greatness to pass up!

Dior Haute Couture

Dior never disappoints during fashion week and this year definitely brought a clear point of view. One of the best parts of the show was the runway itself which gave a Tim Burton feel with the white runway contrasting with whimsical mounds of grass and tall spring blooming trees! With clean lines, structured pant suits, and asymmetrical sheer cutouts, Dior was uniquely innovative this year! With the coming of spring, there was also an abundance of floral prints that were textured with embroidery and beading. Such an interesting collection, Dior will certainly been seen on many red carpets this upcoming year!

Chanel Couture

If you really want to step into another world, just check out the Chanel Couture runway show! Such a strong point of view from designer Karl Lagerfield, this Chanel collection reflected a darker side with its signature tweed suits but also played with lace insets, cutouts, and graphic floral prints. The finale of dresses was the most indulgent part; the dresses where a silver white with beading, lace, and feathers that looked straight out of a ball from Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice. Paired with the rustic English natural background, this couture collection from Chanel transported us to the high society England and I didn’t want to leave! Stunning!

Trendy Tuesday: Menswear

Listen up ladies, we are taking over the working world in style with the menswear trend! Structured suits aren’t just for men and many designers and celebrities have been following in suit! (No pun intended). The key to wearing a structured two piece suit is to add a little feminine touch like a broach, clutch, or colorful heel. Frieda Pinto was seen in a bright red Gucci suit that she added a clutch and butterfly broach to play up the soft and hard edge of the suit. Emma Roberts wore a fun printed suit with a red clutch and sunglasses that was so reminiscent of old Hollywood at a Vogue event!

White suits have also been popular and super chic on stars like Kate Hudson and Taylor Swift! The key to a pulling off a great white suit is to make sure it is tailored properly to your body. Pair it with a red lip and fun pumps that can be either a day or night look!

You can never have too much color in your wardrobe and don’t let a bold colored suit scare you! Rock a bright suit like Nicki Minaj in this bubbble gum pink suit or Rashida Jones in a royal blue suit. You will really make a strong statement with a colored suit and pair it with a black top and fun pumps that can either be a lighter shade of the suit or another corresponding bright color! Just go for it!

Get the Look:

When putting together a  menswear inspired you look, you want to start with a great jacket like the Lush Tuxedo Blazer that has a classic structure but with a feminine edge. Next you want to pair it with a blouse that is collared but light and delicate at the same time. Something like the Lush Sweet and Sophisticated Top in Black is button up with a high low hem and shows little skin being sheer. Next, you can still show off your feminine curves with a pair of colored skinny jeans that like the edgy Flying Monkey Snake Print Pant in Black! The best part of the menswear trend is the accessories! Since you are wearing simple structured clothing you can really have fun with your accessorize! Pair your look with a fun pump like the Delicious Rainer Heel in Lipstick Red or the studded Delcious Shakia-S Heel that is to die for! Add a geometric clutch like the Street Level Big Ben Clutch or the snake print Urban Expressions Sass-Attack Clutch in Black as your finishing touch! Next time you go to work or out with your friends, you will definitely command the attention in any room you walk in with a great menswear look! Just don’t let the power go too much to your head!

Spring Trend Alert: Pretty in Pastels

With the new year right around the corner we’re all excited about the spring fashion trends, especially pastels! These subdued hues give off light, feminine vibes that can be styled anywhere from flirty to fierce with the right accents. This isn’t a groundbreaking trend either, pastels are spring staples just like florals and light layers, so feel free to indulge in some cool pastels this season! The spring runway shows were bursting with gentle shades of pink, blue, lilac, and green on pants, dresses, bags, you name it. Alexander McQueen‘s honeycomb yellow gown and Dior‘s metallic pastel bubble dresses might be a little harder to pull off, but will monochrome ensembles like Oscar de la Renta‘s rose shorts and sweater and Carolina Herrera‘s preppy blue and cream look inspire some light-colored fashion choices of your own?

If these pleasantly pale colors have caught your eye, you can snag some pastel pieces from ForElyse.com. Nude heels like these Delicious Rigby Pumps are a great way to work the trend with anything from your LBD to jeans, or maybe this Alythea Shimmer Me Timbers Dress in soft pink. I’m personally in love with this tea green Tara Purse and the minty green Sis Sis Stud-Struck Top to mix these lady-like tones into your everyday wardrobe.

Red Carpet Season 2013: 70th Golden Globe Awards

“And the winner is… fashion!” Last night at the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, movie and TV stars brought the glitz and glam to the red carpet! In the cool winter afternoon in Beverly Hills, CA, celebrities wore the latest off the high fashion runways and left us stunned! Here are some of the trends from the 2013 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet!

It Color: Red!

Red was one of the trendiest colors of the night and definitely stood out as a power color! Jennifer Lawrence, who won for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, wore a blood orange red Dior Haute Couture gown accented with a pewter metallic belt that gave it a modern edge! New mom Claire Danes showed off her post baby body in a crimson red Versace gown which complimented her win for Best Actress in a TV Drama Series Homeland. Marion Cotillard wore a swanky red dress by Christian Dior while Zooey Dechanel wore a full princess gown by Oscar de la Renta.

White Hot

White was a smoking color last night and the stars who wore white looked like bombshells! Anne Hathaway looked stunning in a beaded white Chanel dress that had a classic corset bodice and slim skirt that was a statement of sleek elegance.  Lea Michele looked so hot in this beaded ivory Ellis Saab gown that showed off her toned arms and had a sexy high slit to show off some leg! Heidi Klum made us remember why she was kicknamed “The Body,” in this skin tight one shoulder Alexandre Vauthier Couture dress that had a gold jewel detail around the neck and showed off her long model legs! Jennifer Lopez wore a nude and ivory lace Zuhair Murad body con dress that gave the allusion of her wearing nothing but the lace! She got curves for days in that dress!

Back in Black

Black is always a safe move when attending a red carpet, but these stars took major risks with their LBD‘s! Eva Longoria looked gorgeous in the romantic lace Emilio Pucci gown that showed off a lot of cleavage and a lot of leg! Alexander McQueen was a popular designer worn by Kate Hudson and Nicole Kidman in these black form fitting dresses that had interesting cutouts and fun embellishments, as expected by the imaginative designs of McQueen! Adele also wore her signature color of black and kept it simple in this 3/4 sleeve dress by Burberry! The new mom gushed about the inspirations of her newborn son and was giddy over her first Golden Globe win for Best Original Song for her song in Skyfall.

Bejeweled

Sparkling on the red carpet in head-to-tow beaded dresses was very appropriate given this event! Kerry Washington looked modern and fresh in this silver encrusted Miu Miu dress that spoke of the 20s trend currently circulating through the tents of fashion week! Sofia Vergara brought the sparkle along with the Va-va-voom as always in a black sequin dress by up-and-coming designer Michael Cinco. Sparkling her way to win the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award, Jodie Foster gave a moving speech in a blue jewel Giorgio Armani dress that made her look like a true movie star! Hayden Panettiere had one of her best red carpet moments in this white beaded Roberto Cavalli gown that made her glitter and shine like a diamond!

Pastel Dreams

With pastels being a huge trend during the Spring 2013 Collections of New York Fashion Week, many stares opted for softer hued gowns. Best Actress winner Jessica Chastain looked like a mermaid in this soft sea foam blue Calvin Klein dress that looked like a waterfall as she walked. Amy Adams looked lovely in a pale pink gown by Marchesa gown and Megan Fox wore a similar pale peach  Dolce & Gabbana lace gown. Spring colors were definitely awakened when Rosario Dawson wore this mint peplum Antonio Berardi gown that had an edgy structure that complemented the soft colors. Peachy keen was the mood set by Jessica Alba in a peach mermaid Oscar de la Renta gown and Amanda Seyfried in a lace light peach Givenchy dress.

The 70th Golden Globe red carpet was so fun to watch and the stars pulled out their best to set off red carpet season with a bang! Can’t wait to see what they wear next!

Hot Factor: Beyonce in Spring 2009 Balmain Jacket

Hot Factor: Beyonce

Designer: Balmain Spring 2009

Where: Dinner with hubby Jay-Z in NYC

Since the military trend is so hot right now, I couldn’t resist giving new mom Beyonce this week’s Hot Factor when she wore the a black and silver military jacket from the Balmain Spring 2009 Collection making it vintage! Beyone looked edgy and comfortable for a night out with hubby Jay-Z! A military jacket is the perfect winter accent for any event that can be dressed up or down! We got to give it to Beyonce for looking so great in this jacket! She is definitely a master and commander of the military trend!

Who are you wearing! Jillian’s Red Carpet Predictions!

Its my favorite time of the year: Red Carpet Season! That’s right! The time of year when there are back to back award shows like the Grammy’s, the Golden Globes and the Oscars! Yes everyone is excited to see who will win what but really we are more excited to see who will be wearing what! In the spirit of the anticipation of red carpet season, myself and my fellow For Elyse bloggers will be making predictions to which stars will be wearing what designers! Ready… set… go!

Miley Cryus has come out of her shell with an edgier more modern Miley. This year on the red carpet, I see her in the opening look from the Balenciaga Spring 2013 runway show during fashion week. The structured crop top is part of Miley’s new style along with the menswear cut pants! Throw on some Christian Louboutin pumps and she’s ready for the Grammy Awards!

Sofia Vergara is know for her bold personality and voluptuous perfect curves! As soon as I saw this orange dress from the Oscar De La Renta Pre Fall 2013 runway show it screamed Sofia to me! The dress is so flattering to a woman with curves and the bright orange tone would look lovely with her skin tone and hair! I can definitely see some jaws dropping if Sofia walked down the Golden Globes red carpet in this decadent feminine dress!

Florence Welch of the hit Indie band Florence + The Machine in my opinion is this generations’ Stevie Nicks with her boho tunes and sense of style! For a woman who loves fashion, Florence knows how to wear avant garde pieces and really appreciate them! The YSL Spring 2013 Runway Show I think was seriously created just for Florence! The Spanish baroque trend was quite apparent but more in a Mask of Zorro kind of way! I thought this look in particular, minus the hat, would be Florence’s cup of tea! The intricate detailing in the shirt from the print to the neckline to the sleeves would look amazing on her at a red carpet event!

During this past year, Rihanna has become the it girl in the music business! Her style in particular is so effortlessly sexy not matter what kind of event she is attending. With her edgy tastes, I think she would look super cool in this lace and leather harness dress from the BCBG Max Azria Spring 2013 runway show! Take away the cape of course, the dress has layers of lace and is super sexy with all the cutouts and the leather harness detail at front. Rihanna seems daring enough to wear a dress like this and make it look good!

Elle Fanning has been one of the best dressed girls of young Hollywood this past year. Her knowledge of high fashion and ability to carry off trends and avant garde pieces is just astonishing for her age. Since she is so young and loves to take risks with her fashion, I would love to see her in this dress from the Chanel Spring 2013 collection. I think the colors and the graphic print would look so sweet on her and would be so refreshing for spring!

Finally, Anne Hathaway has been taking major risks with her style since she cut her hair for the hit musical Les Miserables. She has been seen in structured menswear pieces along with romantic edgy gowns that are reminiscent of the 1920s. Since I think Anne has a soft side for the romantic dresses, I think she would look lovely in this Marchesa Spring 2013 ivory dress. The beaded details around the neckline are stunning and the ruffles are so strategically placed it makes the dress look a lot edgier. In my opinion, Anne would look stunning accepting any award in the dress!
