Outfit Of The Week: Mint Skinny Jeans

Flying Monkey has been sending us their colorful skinny jeans in nearly every shade and it’s hard to pick a favorite, but when we unpacked these mint green skinnies, we collectively oohed and ahhed. Besides being the perfect springtime color, they give any outfit a fresh feeling that we just love. I had so much fun picking out this outfit for our lovely model Paige, and although some items are in-store only, I’ve included a few different options for your viewing and purchasing pleasure!

We paired the Flying Monkey Mint Green skinnies with this breezy cream top, a pair of sunglasses with lavender frames, a delicate gold-colored jewelry, the Rough Ride Studded Crossbody Bag, and some nude strappy flats. The top, shoes and accessories are available in-store only, but if you love the look try the Lush Cross My Heart Top, the City Classified Willie Sandal, and the Fallen Leaf Necklace!

Watercolor Inspired Outfits

Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder and I could not help but catch my breath when I came across these amazing watercolors by Italian artist Silvia Pelissero! Her paintings are very moving with a unique story behind each piece. Pelissero utilizes many different types of techniques from oil, watercolor, chalk, and many others to express individual emotions in her colorful faces! Being a huge art enthusiast, I thought it would be fun to create some daring outfits inspired by her amazingly colorful pieces!

Our first outfit is based on this gorgeous blue and pink painting called “Garden in the Ceiling.” To correspond with the colors, we paired the Toska Love Me Top in Pink with the Flying Monkey Color Splash Jeans in Light Teal! The bold colors in this outfit reflect the trendy pastel colored skinny jeans and have a bold colorful statement that you can’t help but admire!

Pelissero’s next painting exudes a romantic nature after being call “Almost Lover,” consisting of colder shades of purple and blue. For this inspired outfit, we paired the romantic Sugar Lips Dressed in Lace Top since it has an interesting asymmetrical hem and delicate lace details. Keeping with the pastel purple hues we added the Planet B Colored Jegging in Lavender which are trendy and sweet all in one!

This last outfit was inspired by the painting named “Opale,” which is very haunting and alluring with the girls green eyes! After I saw this painting I knew the Flying Monkey Jeggings in White add the essences of the white in the girls hair and the Blu Pepper Pistachi-Foam Top in Mint captures the color of her eyes! Such a cute outfit that will have you looking trendy and intriguing to anyone you pass by! Sure to catch his eye!

Street Chic: Jumpers and Lace

Adding to our Street Chic collection of fabulous fashionistas is local business owner Julie Kulimakin! I spotted her as I was doing some shopping on my day off and couldn’t help but love her lavender and white polka dot jumper, vintage crochet vest, and suede open toe pumps! Since jumpers are all over the runways right now, I had to stop and take a picture of her since she pulled it off so well! When I asked her about her style she explained that she liked to mix and match a lot along with taking risks. She was also shopping on her day off and had decided to look fabulous wile doing it! Julie, we salute you and your ability to wear jumpers! You look amazing!

Purple-y Correct: Pastel Purple Hair

Pastels have seemed to have cast a spell on the spring 2012 trends, not only in fashion but in hair styles as well! My favorite Fashion Police Star Kelly Osbourne has been rocking her purple hued hair with confidence for a few months! She went gradually from a light grey with purple undertones to a full on pastel lavender shade of purple, and I think its fabulous! All around Pinterest and fashion blogs, I keep seeing the purple hair and it is finally trending to have your hair a different color other then the “normal” colors! I think in times like these, anyone should be able to color their hair or whatever they want! As long as they are happy that is all that matters! Colorful Hues: Pastel Trends for Spring 2012

Who doesn’t love looking as soft as a flower in full bloom! Luckily, you can reflect the light hues of spring since Pastels are hitting all the fashion trends for this upcoming spring season! Yes, colors of pink, yellow, purple, green, mint, cream, peach… and so many more pastel shades are making their way onto the runway, into editorial shoots, and into our stores! My favorite display of pastels was in none other then the Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 Collection of pastel pieces! Set in a 50′s inspired diner, the key of the shoot was to mix and match pastel shades to create an entirely pastel ensemble! The models glowed as freshly pulled saltwater taffy and you couldn’t help but crave some sweet candy!

 

So “How,” you may be wondering do you take this trend and apply it to your style? Simple! The key is to find great pieces in pastel colors that work for you and your skin tone. Once you find some great solid pieces then you can start to mix and match the colors that work together! You could start with a top like the Solemio Feather Tank in Coral which is a lightweight pastel top that also features a neutral feather print! With this top you could pair the Planet B Colored Jeggings in Yellow! These jeans are made to show off your curves and don’t be afraid of this color because you will definitely stand out f0r being so bold in this pastel pant!

Another great look that is all pastels is the Cecico Layers of Love Top in Ivory and the Planet B Colored Jegging in Lavender! The top is a light ivory color and has gentle layered stripes of sheer fabric and lace! Perfect when paired with bandeau bra or a tank underneath depending on how much skin you want to show! This soft feminine top looks amazing paired with the Lavender Jegging that is curve hugging and really showcases you legs! You will look soft and feminine while standing out at the same time while everyone else wears normal denim jeans!

Lastly, you can always pair a pastel piece with a more neutral pair of jeans, shorts, skirt, or top if you do not feel like being all “pastel-ed” out. Perfectly bright for Spring or Summer, this seer gorgeous top has a ruffled layer around the bust that has small diamond shaped cutouts! A detail that gives this top an extra pump above the rest! This top can be dressed up or dressed down and you will certainly have a glow about you when you wear this gentle top!

Pastels are a great trend to be hitting the fashion market for spring because when you wear then not only will you resemble a soft summer breeze but you will also glow with the color you are wearing.
