Designer Spotlight: Valentino Resort 2013 Filled with Spring Trends

Spring trends are popping up like daisies on every runway but there is one collection in particular that reflects all the upcoming Spring 2013 Trends and that’s none other then the Valentino Resort Spring 2013 Collection! From florals to ivory antique lace and pastels to neon, Valentino Resort 2013 has been seen on a varitey of celebrities from high profile red carpet event to passings on the street! We aren’t the only ones who can’t get enough of Valentino!

Floral Prints:

Graphic floral prints are huge this spring and Valentino makes no exception with prints! From bright and vibrant to soft muted floral designs, the floral print is a staple print in this collection that reflects the sweeter side of spring! Recently during this year’s red carpet season, star of Modern Family Ariel Winter was looking fresh and young in this nude and bright printed floral Valentino dress! The print and the length were completely age appropriate for her and she looks like an incredibly sophisticated young lady. Rose Burns was also in Valentino Resort for the SAG Awards and rocked this floral gown with a soft finger wave curl reflecting a trendy 20s inspired look.

Soft Pastels

Pastels are a huge trend that’s coming back this spring but this time around with a new fresh face! With a softer pallet, Valentino’s pastels are delicate and oh-so feminine! New mom Jessica Alba was glowing at a red carpet event in this blush Valentino gown that had a sheer element, cap sleeves, and an embroidered floral print. Alba looked stunning in this gown with a slicked back bun, fresh makeup, and her new mom glow!

Neon Brights

Neon was a huge trend last year and is coming back around this year! Bright greens and fuchsias gave an electric feel to this collection and are perfect if you want to stand out! Emma Stone stood out in this amazing neon pink Valentino dress paired with a hounds-tooth pump that was remarkably fresh and edgy at Elle Magazine’s Women in Hollywood event! Lea Michele also pulled out all the stops in this fuchsia Valentino gown at the SAG Awards which looked so cool with her trendy ombre hair!

Ivory Antique Lace

One of my favorite combos of spring is ivory and lace and there was plenty of amazing delicate pieces from the Valentino Resort! Sweet dresses, edgy pantsuits, and gowns were all created in intricate ivory lace that is in a word timeless! I just can’t get enough of it and neither can Jessica Biel who wore this Valentino lace jumpsuit in London with coral earring and pumps! So cute!

Spring Hair: Garlands of Flowers

Do you remember the days when you couldn’t wait for the flowers to bloom? When you were a little girl, or boy, and raced as fast as you could to that bush of flowers that never disappointed to bloom when spring arrived. I remember! I would always try to hold as many as my little hands could in a bouquet and any stragglers I would put in my hair or attempt to assemble a garland! I may be grown up now but I still love garlands of flowers and they certainly have not gone out of style! One of the the hair trends for this upcoming spring is garlands of flowers for your hair! Many fashion magazines and clothing brands have used garlands for editorial or campaign shoots to convey the softness that flowers can bring along with a sense of femininity and bright colors! Garlands can give you a mixture of style between a Boho goddess and a Woodstock flower child! The look is very hippie chic and is really refreshing just in time for the flowering of Spring!

You may be thinking, “Yeah this is beautiful but I haven’t the slightest idea how to make one!” Garlands do take a little time but it seriously pays off in the end! If you are an arts-and-crafts person, you will love this for spring! If you are using fresh flowers, try the model below where you take a sturdy twine and needle and thread the flowers one by one, securing them with an additional thread, until a garland forms. Secure the ends together and tie a ribbon to the back to dangle through your hair! You can always use fake flowers for this as well and it will obviously last longer. You just want to make sure: if you get the fake flowers with the wire as a stem to weave the needle through the plastic casing. So go pick, or buy, some of your favorite flowers and construct a hair garland! You will get so many compliments on it and will definitely stand out as a manifestation of a spring nymph!

In Bloom: Floral Prints

With the blooming of flowers and trees reflecting the arrival of spring, you can’t help but want to embrace all of the colors spring has to offer! One of the trends for this upcoming spring season is floral prints and luckily For Elyse has plenty to offer! Wearing floral prints can bring a romantic softness to your look and is perfectly fitting for spring or summer weather, like the Lush Diana Floral Print Top in Purple! This adorable sheer purple tank has a multicolored floral print throughout that has soft shades of yellow and pink. The back is what really gives this top an edgy twist because it has a dropped open back with a T shaped strap! Perfect with a pair of Miss Me jeans and flats for a casual day of shopping!

Floral prints are also fun to wear when they complete a dress! The Lush Blue Skis Dress in Navy Blue is the perfect floral dress for many different occasions! Dark navy blue halter dress has a fresh red and cream floral print, ruffled details, and trendy T strap down sexy open back! This floral print dress is perfect for a wedding, family function, or even a warm spring day! The comfort and cute floral print of the dress makes it easy to wear any time you like!

Floral prints don’t always have to be a solid back color with a multicolored floral design. You can also wear tops like the Collective Concepts Doily Top which has a cream floral lace pattern throughout! The floral details in the lace are subtle and complimented by a contrasting lace trim and trendy rounded hem. The gorgeous top can be dressed up or dressed down with a high-waist skirt and pumps or a pair of capris and flats. What makes this top special is its versatility as well as its feminine features! Paris Fashion Week: Haute Couture Flowers of Alexander McQueen

Flowering fashions of Alexander McQueen are blooming through the tents of Paris Fashion Week! Alexander McQueen’s Fall 2012 Collection expresses inspirations of spring flowers. As the clothing sprung to life down the runway, there was an enchanting immediate sense of Nature and movement throughout every single piece. From bold vibrant colors to muted pastels, the designs of McQueen express Avant Garde characteristics as if the flowers from Alice in Wonderland came to life and put on a pair of stilettos!

Many of Alexander McQueen’s pieces resemble the shape and color of flowers. The first one to catch my eye was this circular light pink ensemble that resembles a blooming hydrangea with its intricate detailing and shape! The fabric pulled away from the belted center and the shades of pink continued to lighten as the eye drew closer to the pearl shaped belt!

This neon red piece bounced down the runway with the grace of spring in full bloom as if it were a red geranium blossoming with every step! The fullness of the dress was complimented with a flattering gathered waist and scalloped ruffled skirt. The red ruffled stiletto heels complimented this dress as if they were small blossoms falling off and cascading down the runway with each step!

The next piece was this white whimsical dress with lovely bell sleeves and a full A-line skirt! As magical as this dress was with the small details that made it almost shimmer on the runway, it reminded me of a romantic Casablanca Lily as if it were hanging upside-down as a dress for this fierce model! Can you say Couture Avant Garde wedding dress? I think yes!

The last flower inspired piece resembled a purple Iris when it was in full bloom during the spring season. The shoulders cascaded with this lovely delicate purple fabric, a gathered waist, and short A-line skirt that was as beautiful and soft as petals!

This collection not only commands a strong point of view but every piece has so much flirtatious movement that is so fetching to the eye. The Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 Collection is simply breathtaking and transports the wearer to a futuristic garden!
