Spring Fashion Week: Jenny Packham

If you didn’t already see Jenny Packham’s Spring 2013 collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this year, it was gorgeous.  Here are a few of our favorite pieces.


Here, the ever fashionable preplum style makes its appearance on the runway. These classic patterns are used in new ways making each piece unique.

One thing I love about this entire collection is the high necklines throughout. The silhouettes conveyed by these dresses are also fabulous. Together, the two factors gives a clean classy look. Jenny Packham uses different key pieces throughout the entire collection that makes it so impressive. In this collection are different uses of bold colors as well as pastels, metallics, and patterns. All these work well throughout the collection, each piece looking completely different from the next, yet still having a to have common flow of elegance. Its exciting to look at this collection as a whole because of all variety of looks we are able to see.

The sheer high necklines on these two dresses are some of our favorites out of the whole collection. It turns what would have been an otherwise plain dress into something different. Notice the metallic detail on the sleeve of the dress above left. It is those simple touches that makes these dresses so beautiful.

Pastels for spring? Maybe for some, but not Jenny Packham! Here, bright colors are worn by the models, with a touch of beading to add a pop. Lookout spring! Bright fashion is coming. Get ready to wear those bold colors you’ve been holding on to.

Metallics were a big part of this collection, used as an accent piece of a dress, or as the main focus. This dress showcases the high neckline and metallics, giving a good overall impression of the entire collection. We hope to see more outfits inspired by these classy pieces around town!

Watercolor Inspired Outfits

Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder and I could not help but catch my breath when I came across these amazing watercolors by Italian artist Silvia Pelissero! Her paintings are very moving with a unique story behind each piece. Pelissero utilizes many different types of techniques from oil, watercolor, chalk, and many others to express individual emotions in her colorful faces! Being a huge art enthusiast, I thought it would be fun to create some daring outfits inspired by her amazingly colorful pieces!

Our first outfit is based on this gorgeous blue and pink painting called “Garden in the Ceiling.” To correspond with the colors, we paired the Toska Love Me Top in Pink with the Flying Monkey Color Splash Jeans in Light Teal! The bold colors in this outfit reflect the trendy pastel colored skinny jeans and have a bold colorful statement that you can’t help but admire!

Pelissero’s next painting exudes a romantic nature after being call “Almost Lover,” consisting of colder shades of purple and blue. For this inspired outfit, we paired the romantic Sugar Lips Dressed in Lace Top since it has an interesting asymmetrical hem and delicate lace details. Keeping with the pastel purple hues we added the Planet B Colored Jegging in Lavender which are trendy and sweet all in one!

This last outfit was inspired by the painting named “Opale,” which is very haunting and alluring with the girls green eyes! After I saw this painting I knew the Flying Monkey Jeggings in White add the essences of the white in the girls hair and the Blu Pepper Pistachi-Foam Top in Mint captures the color of her eyes! Such a cute outfit that will have you looking trendy and intriguing to anyone you pass by! Sure to catch his eye!

Purple-y Correct: Pastel Purple Hair

Pastels have seemed to have cast a spell on the spring 2012 trends, not only in fashion but in hair styles as well! My favorite Fashion Police Star Kelly Osbourne has been rocking her purple hued hair with confidence for a few months! She went gradually from a light grey with purple undertones to a full on pastel lavender shade of purple, and I think its fabulous! All around Pinterest and fashion blogs, I keep seeing the purple hair and it is finally trending to have your hair a different color other then the “normal” colors! I think in times like these, anyone should be able to color their hair or whatever they want! As long as they are happy that is all that matters! I would recommend to have a color like this professionally done especially if you have dark hair! Check out some the lovely fashion photography below of pastel purple hair and decide if you are willing to go lavender!

Colorful Hues: Pastel Trends for Spring 2012

Who doesn’t love looking as soft as a flower in full bloom! Luckily, you can reflect the light hues of spring since Pastels are hitting all the fashion trends for this upcoming spring season! Yes, colors of pink, yellow, purple, green, mint, cream, peach… and so many more pastel shades are making their way onto the runway, into editorial shoots, and into our stores! My favorite display of pastels was in none other then the Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 Collection of pastel pieces! Set in a 50′s inspired diner, the key of the shoot was to mix and match pastel shades to create an entirely pastel ensemble! The models glowed as freshly pulled saltwater taffy and you couldn’t help but crave some sweet candy!

 

So “How,” you may be wondering do you take this trend and apply it to your style? Simple! The key is to find great pieces in pastel colors that work for you and your skin tone. Once you find some great solid pieces then you can start to mix and match the colors that work together! You could start with a top like the Solemio Feather Tank in Coral which is a lightweight pastel top that also features a neutral feather print! With this top you could pair the Planet B Colored Jeggings in Yellow! These jeans are made to show off your curves and don’t be afraid of this color because you will definitely stand out f0r being so bold in this pastel pant!

Another great look that is all pastels is the Cecico Layers of Love Top in Ivory and the Planet B Colored Jegging in Lavender! The top is a light ivory color and has gentle layered stripes of sheer fabric and lace! Perfect when paired with bandeau bra or a tank underneath depending on how much skin you want to show! This soft feminine top looks amazing paired with the Lavender Jegging that is curve hugging and really showcases you legs! You will look soft and feminine while standing out at the same time while everyone else wears normal denim jeans!

Lastly, you can always pair a pastel piece with a more neutral pair of jeans, shorts, skirt, or top if you do not feel like being all “pastel-ed” out. Louis Vuitton Merry-Go-Round Fashion Show

The whirl wind of fashion is an outlet for the most creative minds of the fashion world. Recently I stumbled upon a photo of the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Show and I was amazed by what I saw! Instead of  the predictable long rectangular runway, a curtain was draw up to reveal a vintage style carousal with white riding horses! Upon the horses were the Louis Vuitton models looking prim and proper in their spring-wear ensembles!

As the music began to play, the carousal began to turn and each model would begin her walk around the carousal showcasing spring jackets, dresses, and bags embellished with the Louis Vuitton logo. The cohesive collection consisted of pastels and sheer prints for a high class woman during the breath of Spring.

Needless to say, this runway show was certainly interesting on a whole other level. The essence of the merry-go-round took me through a playful and intriguing fantasy! I was further enchanted by the show and level of creativity for fashion shows has been raised!
