People We’re Down With: Lana Del Rey

If you were to find yourself in an underground jazz bar with a foggy disposition and dimly lit with red vintage lanterns scattered amongst round tables for a body or two, your night would be complete while listening to the sultry sounds of Lana Del Rey. Known as an eclectic mix of Nancy Sinatra with 60s Americana, Lana Del Rey is one of the rising Indie recoding artists who does not fear pushing the limits in her lyrics and her appearance. A true artist at heart, Del Rey draws on her influences from her childhood in New York along with her battle with alcohol dependence, past lovers, and inspirations from the Latin community. Not only have her jazzy unique sounding voice captured our eyes and ears, but also her unique fashion sense that seems to reflect a soft and hard motif along with 70s inspirations as seen in magazines like UK Vogue. Her album covers are true works of art, such as “Serial Killer,” and “Unreleased” which are less then conventional but somewhat refreshing as they are daring. Del Rey’s biggest hits “Born to Die,” and “Video Games” helped put her on the map of recording artists and her popularity continues to grow with her unique look and sound! We certainly cannot get enough of Lana Del Rey and if you give her a listen, you will soon find yourself catapulted to a world where only jazz creates movement with every note.

One of her songs we can’t stop listening to is “Serial Killer,” because of its haunting lyrics and 70s indie feel! Take a listen!

In the spirit of style and fashion, we are starting our new blog series “Street Chic Snapshots!” In these blog posts we want to find regular pedestrians with fabulous style! I had to approach her and have her as the first of our street fashions!

Get the Coachella Look Without Even Attending!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
So… I am still so sad that I was not able to attend the Coachella Music Festival this past weekend and am so envious of the girls with their hippie flower child looks! But I figured, just because I could not attend this year does not mean that I can’t get the looks! I love all of the original ensembles that seemed to be free yet trendy at the same time! So I thought I would do a little research in the hopes of attending next year and try to find the most Coachella inspired looks for me and for you!

The key to dressing in Coachella fashions is manly about comfort! You have to be comfortable in what you are wearing or you will definitely be having a miserable time! A romantic top like the Love Stitch Polo Match Blouse in White is perfect for a colder day or night event. The romantic lace adds a touch of Boho edge while be delicately feminine at the same time! You can also truly channel your inner hippie with the Sis Sis Flower Child Top in Blue! This relaxed free-flowing top has a blue tie-dye print with spaghetti straps and off the shoulder details! Perfectly relaxing and sexy all in one! When you wear these tops you can either pair with them the Flying Monkey Jackson Jean in Denim that is super stretchy and comfortable fora lot of moving around and dancing or the Flying Monkey Color Splash Jeans in Bright Red if you want to keep with the bold trendy colored jean look!

Part of Coachella fashions is to show some skin and love your body! This positive image is great to keep in mind if you want to be a little more daring and show some skin! What’s great about this look is there are a couple different avenues you could take it: cropped or sheer, both are equally sexy! Lets starts with sheer: I am in love with both of these sheer lace tops below, the Cecico Layers of Love Top in Charcoal and the Collective Concepts Doily Top in Ivory! The Cecico top has sheer layers  contrasted with lace stripes that are very revealing. Pair it with a tank underneath or a bandeau bra to show some of your curves! You can also try the Collective Concepts top which is a sheer relaxed fit tank  that has a floral lace design and adorable embroidered hems. Very soft and perfect with a white or colored bandeau bra if you prefer to be more soft then edgy!

Another great way to show a little skin and is a huge trend right now is to wear a cropped top that shows off your stomach! There are  few ways that you can show off your midriff in a classy way without looking too over-the-top! If you have the confidence, try the Sis Sis Addicted to Love Top in Mint! Romantic feminine V neck top has gentle ruching on the sleeves and a wrap style that flares to a little ruffle! You can also try something a touch more modest with the Sis Sis Alyssa Lace Top in Sand! This relaxed off white tank has a lace bordered hem that show just the right amount of stomach with out revealing too much! Perfectly comfortable and great for a warm day at Coachella!

The next key to showing off your glorious skin and giving it a little Vitamin D is to pair any of these tops with a great pair of shorts! You can never go wrong with denim in the Miss Me Classic Shorts which are light denim blue, lightly distressed, and have a plaid bordered hem! The hem is so adorable and makes these jeans a look a little more worn and vintage! You can also add a pop of color in the Ci Sono Cargo Shorts in Coral! Since coral is such a popular color, these bright shorts draw attention because of their color and comfort! Perfect for giving your legs the sun they had been lacking all winter!

To finish off your look you have to accessorize and honestly the more the better just in this instance! For shoes, you want to wear something like the Fenya Summer Sandal or the Soda Tam Sandal because you are most likely going to be walking around a lot and this is not the time or place for heels! Trust me, your feet will thank you for it! With jewelry, pile it on! Earrings, bangles, bracelets, necklaces, anything that screams Boho-Princess! Even flowers, feathers, or head chains in your hair are perfect for this occasion! I also recommend opting out for carrying a heavy purse or bag. Instead trade your clunky bag in for a simple clutch like the Urban Expressions Wristlette Wallet in Coffee or the Urban Expressions Cross-body Clutch in Charcoal! Both are big enough to carry everything tat is important without weighing you down!

The Coachella Music Festival is all about people coming together for great music, food, festivities, and last but not least comfortable fashion forward outfits! The best thing is that people won’t be looking at your outfit, they will be looking at your confidence and smile, then your outfit! Shine through with an outfit you can move and dance in while having the time of your life! Don’t worry, with these tips you won’t be worrying about what to wear at all! Just consider this a pre-concert gift to ensure that you relax and have a great time next year!

Hippie Chic: Fashions From the Coachella Music Festival

If Woodstock’s had a more mellow cleaner cousin, it would be the Coachella Music Festival 2012 taking place in Indio, CA throughout the month of April! Not only does the festival feature great recording artists like Florence + The Machine, Radiohead, The Black Keys, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog but also endless booths of food, drinks, and shopping for the attendee! The best part about this huge music festival is the eclectic mix of fashions that of people who attend! No matter how out there you get, everyone is here for the music and freely to express themselves by their attire! Some get more creative while others go a more chic look following trends with a sense of flower child in their present wardrobe! At the Coachella Music Festival, the sky is the limit for what you decided to wear and nothing is considered too whacky!  Check out more fashions, events, and schedules at www.coachella.com!
