A Sea of Color: Triya Rio de Janeiro Fashion Show

Walking on a rainbow would be my best way to describe the Triya fashion show at the Rio De Janeiro Fashion Week 2012! In Brazil this past week, many designers showcased their Summer 2012 collections but one in particular caught my eye in a big way! The Triya Swimwear Fashion Show was so amazing to watch because not only were the colors of the rainbow displayed in a unique runway design, but the swimwear itself was truly unique! Bright colors paired with intricate designs put a new spin on swimwear! With looks ranging from bikinis, tankinis, and one-pieces, many of the swim suits had interesting patterns and prints while others had great use of cutouts all throughout the design. Triya really stepped up to creating a collection that was very different then other swimwear lines which can be so hard to do with such little fabric!

Along with the wonderful colors of the collection and the runway, the makeup for the Triya fashion show was just as colorful! With tribal inspirations, the makeup on the models was literally like oil pastel paintings around their eyes. Their makeup resembled rough brush strokes on a canvas and it was truly beautiful! Bringing these kinds of colors together made this show look more thought out and was displayed as if it were art. Such a dessert for the eyes and you can’t help but want more!

Summer Movie Round-Up

Tickets in one hand, popcorn and gummy bears in the other! Now to just find the perfect seat and get ready for this summer’s movies!With the warm weather always comes great movies to see during the summer months! The first move in the long line of sequels premiering this summer is Men in Black 3, just released last weekend! Starring hero Will Smith, time travel is the name of the game when secret agent Jay (Smith) must travel back in time to save his partner Kay who is played by the returning Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin who plays a younger version! Smith must fight some bad aliens and uncover the secret to saving the future of planet Earth in the past!

Another highly anticipated film opening this weekend is Snow White and the Huntsman starring Kristen Stewart as the young Snow White, Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen , and Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman. This theatrically whimsical tale is brought to you buy the producers of “Alice in Wonderland,” and takes place in a mythical land poisoned by the Evil Queen. Snow White, being the only person more fair then the Queen, is sent to be killed by the Queen’s huntsman. Unable to kill the young woman, the huntsman begins training Snow White to possibly overturn the Queen’s reign.  With stunning visual affects, director Rupert Sandals bring a dark twist to the old fairy tale!

With sequels being a huge trend in the movie industry, director Christopher Nolan is bringing the final installment of the Batman series The Dark Knight Rises starring Christian Bale and Gary Oldman. Taking place eight years later after Batman took the blame for the crimes of Harvey Dent, also known as Two Face, a new terrorist named Bane, played by Tom Hardy, threatens the city of Gotham and the loves of many innocent citizens. Batman must come out of the dark to Gotham’s aid after being outcast as an enemy!

Summer Trend: Cateye Sunglasses

Do you have an inner feline just dying to get out? Release your sass with the newest spring trend: Cat-eye Sunglasses! Tom Ford’s cat-eye sunglasses have a larger wing at the sides along with a slimmer shape. The tops of the sunglasses tend to be flatter and slightly arch out to the sides. Ranging in a variety of colors, the Tom Ford Cat-eye sunglasses are perfect for adding some spice while creating some mystery!

Another great designer that has been making popular cat-eye sunglasses is none other then Ray Ban! Spotted on swimsuit model Bar Rafaeli, the Ray Ban cat-eye is made shaped a little rounder and wider with a small hint of wing. Summer Trends: Burst of Citrus

Celebs like Ashley Simpson, Kylie Minogue, Lauren Conrad, Garbirelle Union, Elizabeth Banks, Emily Oslen and many more have been spotted showing off this happy color! with summer right around the corner, why not reflect the colors of the sun in your wardrobe with hues or yellow, coral and orange! The flavors of citrus will truly brighten up your closet!

To get this sweet look and bring about a burst of freshness into every room you walk in just start looking for these colors! A top like the Umgee Forget Me Knot Top in Yellow has a bright yellow color with contrasting cream lace stripes that give anyone who sees you a sweet tooth! Style Tip: Instant Beach Waves

Don’t you wish you could get perfect summer beach waves without going to the beach, now you can! Beachy waves are such a fun look that is seen on so many celebrities like Kate Hudson and Whitney Port whether they are shopping, lunching, or working a red carpet! Since it is almost summer, beach waves are the perfect hairstyle to rock in the heat that won’t weigh you down! But if you don’t have a fancy hairstylist like the celebs or live by the beach no need to fret because this girl on a budget has the perfect recipe for at home instant beachy waves!

So how do you get beach waves at home without the beach, simple!

1. Mix up the recipe below:

1 Spray Botte

2 Cups Hot Water

1 Tablespoon of salt

1 Tablespoon of coconut oil

1 Tablespoon of hair gel or leave-in conditioner (optional)

Once you mix up this formula in the bottle, shake and spray onto wet hair. Twist into sections or flip your head over and scrunch it with your hands and Voilà! You will have beautiful beach waves! Spray your hair with hairspray or product that you see fit and try not to touch it too much because you risk making it greasy or frizzy!

There you have it! Easy DIY instant beachy waves! The ocean is calling, so soak up every bit of it in your hair!

Cannes Film Festival 2012

Couture, couture, couture! Around every corner and heard from every star and reporter on the Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet was couture! Every year in France, many American and International movie stars come together for this extravagant award ceremony that usually last three day which means tons of fashion! From day events, movie promotions, and black tie affairs at nigh, there is plenty of faces and fashions to see! Stars flock from far and wide to come to this lavish event where the gloves come off on the red carpet as one by one the stars file out in their absolute best! One of my favorites and possible the hit of the Festival was when Eva Longoria arrived in a stunning couture Marchesa gown with full tulle train and embroidered detailing! Longoria literally looked as if she was floating on a cloud down the red carpet like a gift from the heavens and she certainly stole the show! Anther favorite was Chinese superstar Fan Bing Bing when she arrived in an intricate Christopher Bu gown that had so many details, beading, and embroidery that was true to the Chinese culture! It was truly stunning! Other gorgeous arrivals included Marion Cotillard, Diane Kruger, Freida Pinto, Jessica Chastain and so many more! If you have ever dreamed of wearing a custom designer couture gown and for some reason get the chance to, the Cannes Film Festival is the place to show it off!

Trend Alert: Neon Brights

Usually when you see neon lights its usually at a club or rave show! Not anymore! The newest fashion trend to surface in the white tents is Neon and lots of it! Whether it be a dress, separates,  or accessories. the neon trend is taking Hollywood by storm and worn by many celebs like Fergie, Jessica Alba, and the Kardashian sisters! All of these bold bright pops of color are perfect for spring and can be worn from day-to-night on literally any item! The best part about neon is that there are so many ways to wear it even though it could look a little intimidating. If you do have the confidence to wear neon let’s just say that the neon could catch someone’s eye, then your smile!

So how do you actually wear neon! Here are a few tips to help you out in taking on these bright colors! Green is a big one! Neon green can be seen everywhere right now whether its separates or accessories! If you are really in love with neon green you could try something like the Flying Monkey Color Splash Jeans in Neon Green that are a stretchy curve hugging slim fit jean! You will definitely stand out in a crowd in these jeans that look great paired with a lacy top and tan wedges! Add another pop of color with a hot pink envelop bag! Outfit of the Week: Wild Mint

In the jungle of the fashion world, you want to stand out as a lion, a king of your own style with pride and a fierce edge! This week’s Outfit of the Week was a collaboration between myself and our stylists Rachel and Lauren and we are calling it Wild Mint! Modeled by our sweet model Taylor, the objective of this look is to be funky with trends and all about mixing and matching! That’s the great thing about fashion, you can always experiment and mix things up; you’ll never know what you might find!

Since we just received a huge shipment of colored skinny jeans, we had to go with the adorable Flying Monkey Color Splash Skinny Jeans in Light Teal! Super stretchy curve hugging skinnies have slim fit from hip to ankle with a stretch that won’t ware out but last you all day! We had to go with this color because it is seriously “cute,” as most of us For Elyse girls would describe them! To pair with these skinnies, we chose the Cecico Wild World Top in Cheetah Print! I know it can be intimidating to wear these colored jeans and sometimes you just don’t know what to pair with them! Well let me tell you, animal print is a great contender! This sheer cheetah printed top fits a little looser and is a blouse style. It can also be worn off the shoulder if you get it a size up. Since it is quite sheer, we paired the Zenana Lace Bandeau Bra underneath in Black! The lace adds a feminine touch and a sexiness since you can see through the top. I think its rather alluring!

The accessories are part of this outfit that really give it a funkier vibe! We first paired the Urban Expressions Clutch in Red because the bright candy apple red color really compliments the teal and the cheetah print without overpowering either. The shoes we used are the Soda Summer Enrollment Wedge in Black because they are super comfortable and really go with anything dressed up or dressed down! To give this outfit a little shine we had Taylor rock the Trevi Coins Bracelet in Gold and some sunglasses to make her look like the “Cool Girl.”

This outfit is made for you to embrace your inner wild child and give you that funkier boho edge that makes people think, “Wow, she has style!” Take a trip on the wild side with this awesome bold outfit and yo never know what you will find when you let your inner animal out! Rawr!

Celebrity Sleek: Dark Nail Polish

Want to look like many of your celebrity favorites, simple! Just slap on some dark nail polish and you are good to go! Seriously, every time I see a photo of a celebrity, she is rocking dark nail polish! As the biggest fad among celebs like Blake Lively, Selena Gomez, Eva Mendez, Ann Hathaway and so many others, dark nails are the perfect color for any red carpet! The color is versatile enough for a casual public appearance or even the Oscars! But black isn’t the only color these stars are rocking, its different shades that make your nails special! Instead of a black color, try a dark Navy, deep purple, or even a really dark brown! The dark colors will compliment pretty much any outfit and give you an edge to your whole look! Give it a try and mix it up! You will be mistaken for a “somebody” the next time you go out!

Toss Your Cap: Shopping for a Graduation Dress

Graduation is a day that you will never forget and is such an amazing experience! With that being said, you want to remember looking your best and feeling comfortable as well! Since those grad ceremonies can be so long, here are a couple tips on choosing the right graduation dress that is perfect for you along with the proper accessories that will help make this event a day to remember!

My best advice in choosing a graduation dress after graduating for middle school, high school, and college is to pick something that you will seriously be comfortable in, for all of the different levels of graduation ceremonies! I am very fond of the free flowing A-line dress. Not too revealing but sweet and simple!
