Outfit Of The Week: White Heat

Well kids, summer is officially here. The ice cream trucks drive in a loop around neighborhoods, the days are infinitely longer, and it’s important than ever to find ways to beat the heat. With that in mind, this week we styled our beautiful model Paige in a White Heat look. We put her in the Steal-ing The Scene Dress from INA, the Delicious Durko Heel, a studded clutch (similar), and some gold jewelry (similar).

White Outfit

Lace is everywhere this season, and this white lace dress is super fun and feminine, without feeling stuffy or too structured. The delicate peplum falls naturally, and is a great way to try out the peplum trend without diving in too deep. The pink studded clutch gives the look an overall edge that I love, while the other details (like the pink, gold and faux pearl bracelet), work to soften it.

White OutfitThis look is perfect for those hot summer nights when you want to look pulled together, but want to break out of the boring “shorts and a t-shirt” habit. Try this dress mixed with hard/soft accessories for your next night out on the town for a look that can’t fail. Happy summer, everyone!

Outfit of the Week: Easter Fashion Dress

It’s that time of year again: spring is just beginning to bloom and the afternoon is booked at your grandma’s house…Easter! Easter weekend at ForElyse.com means pastels, florals and anything bright and cheery. Here we have Paige wearing the Mystic Wall Flower Dress, which is the perfect mix of sweet and fun! This breezy mint colored confection is topped with multicolored flowers and has an unexpected open back. We paired it with the Jones Heel in nude, and a fun mint purse.

How to Make a Loofah Costume

Aces High Costume

Simple white strapless dress

or

3 Yards of white fabric

White thread

Red or black thread

A few sewing needles

Safety pins

Iron on fabric and stencils

If you are making a dress it is actually really simple. Just take the white fabric and measure it to your body. Use the safety pins to pin up both sides of your body where it fits snug, leaving the extra fabric hanging. Hand stitch up the sides with the thread leaving in the safety pins as your guide. Once you have it fitted, cut out of the iron on fabric in the shapes of an “A”and whatever particular suit you choose. Iron on the pieces and just for some extra support, do a small hand stitch in the corners of the stencils. Pair with corresponding black or red shoes and you are ready!

Red Carpet Season: Trends from the Emmys

Glitz, glamor, and don’t forget to roll out the red carpet! Its my favorite time of the year: the beginning of the red carpet season has just been kicked off with the Prime Time Emmy Awards! TV’s most infamous stars were dressed to impress during the Los Angeles event! What I love most about the Emmys, is that it always takes place at the end of the summer when the weather is still warm and the trends are still as hot as ever!

One of the best trends that was on the Emmy Red Carpet had to be the cool Citrus Breeze that was oh-so-refreshing! Leading ladies such as Julie Bowen, Claire Danes, and Julianne Moore wore more of a neon citrus while ladies such as Kaley Cuoco and Leslie Mann wore gowns with an orange tint! Needless to say, these trends spoke loud and clear on the red carpet and was a breath of fresh air!

If you wanted to see a fish out of water, you definitely saw it on the red carpet this year! Many stars chose the “Fish of the Sea” trend that sported many blue hues that looked as deep as the ocean! Stars like Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad and Julianne Hough wore gorgeous ocean colored gowns with incredible detailing that resembled fish scales! Zoe Dechanel and Heidi Klum were as romantic as a rippling reflection in pale pastel blues, while Hayden Panettiere looked like a mermaid caught in a fisherman’s net that left me breathless!

Red is always a great color to wear to an award show because of its strong presence and feminine touch! Many stars looked  absolutely ravishing in red like Kat Dennings in a ruched deep red gown by J. Mendel and Cat Deely in a structured bright red couture gown from Tadashi Shoji. But the stunner of the night in my opinion was definitely comedic actress and writer, Tina Fey, who wore a dark maroon Vivienne Westwood dress that featured a gold embroidered bodice that looked straight out of 18th century Madrid!

The Emmy Awards did not disappoint as far as the red carpet went! Celebs came dressed to impress and there were hardly any worst dressed this year! Way to step it up! We can’t wait for the rest of the red carpet season to pick up and dream about wearing all of those designer gowns!

Red Carpet Alert: VMAs 2012

Every year, there is one event where anything can happen! This year’s 2012 MTV Video Music Awards took place in Los Angeles, CA at the iconic Staples Center where celebrities brought their best, wackiest, and excitement! Like the Grammy’s, the VMAs are a perfect event to go all out in terms of fashion, creativity, and artistry. Whether you go crazy or elegant, the VMAs are the place for music artists to really express their individuality, even if it is quite puzzling!

Best Dressed hands down goes to Rihanna! The Video of the Year winner literally glowed in this gorgeous white backless dress while rocking her new short and sweet pixie cut! Pink and Miley Cyrus wore edgy long sleeved gowns and bleach blonde rocker Mohawks!

Worst Dressed is definitely between Nicki Minaj, who wore a lace a red trimmed body suit that resumed what Spider-man’s girlfriend would wear to look sexy, and Kesha who wore an over sized lace cutout dress that looked like a mens shirt. No no no!

Gowns are always a favorite of stars on any red carpet and so was Katy Perry who looked soft and feminine in an Ellie Saab black floral gown! Alicia Keys also look fabulous in a one shoulder gold gown that flattered her post baby figure!

Short and sassy was also astar favorite on the carpet when Zoe Saldana floated down in this light pink flapper style dress that really showed off her legs! Emma Watson is always evolving with fashion and came out in a fun mix-match of patterns  in a fun top and short skirt!

Group arrivals are alwas fun to see especially when it was the newest popular boy bands, The Wanted and One Direction looked dapper in their trendy suits with cohesive color combos! Team USA’s Fab Five looked quite polished as they walked the red carpet together and announced Alicia Keys’ performance. Definitely gold  in their eyes tonight!

Blogger Spotlight: Mamalovespapa at For Elyse Fashion Show

ForElyse Fashion Show

By Morgan Fairchild of Mamalovespapa Blog

A few weeks ago I was a part of a fashion show with For Elyse for the annual In Motion Fitness (the gym I go to) Member’s Appreciate Party. This was the first year that they’ve had a fashion show as a part of the event and it was such a hit. (And, I might have asked Eric how it felt to be married to a runway model because I’m cool like that.)

For Elyse is a local Chico brick and mortar store and recently they’ve opened an online shop. They have a great selection of clothing and accessories and I know that every time I go in I’ll find something (or a lot of things) that I love.

Check out the For Elyse shop and blog. You can also see more pictures from the fashion show on their Facebook page.
