So Much Creativity with So Little Clothes: Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2012

Its that time of year again! The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2012 kicked off last night without a hitch and what a spectacular show! From the the longest glitter runway to the star studded performances, the Victoria’s Secret Angels strutted their stuff down the runway in the newest from the Victoria’s Secret lingerie and bra collection, but dawned these fantastic ensembles! Every year the show gets more and more theatrical with pieces that seam to scale in column in terms of haute couture and avant garde fashion! This year certainly did not disappoint!

Welcome to the Circus

The Angels kicked off the show with a Circus themed collection that had characters from the ring master, tight rope walker, and grand marque sign! The vintage circus themed collection was accompanied by real circus performers like contortionists, Arial flyers, and gymnasts. Well known  Angels like Alessandra Ambrosio, Erin Heatherton, Miranda Kerr, and Candice Swanepoel wore bras, panties and lingerie that can be found online and in stores but were accessorized with fabulous a props and wings!

Dangerous Liaisons

If we were to hop into a story book, this Dangerous Liaisons collection would be the sexy version!  As Rihanna sang her new hit single “Diamonds,” the models glided down the pixie dust runway in designs that can be described as 18th Century with an edge! A whimsical mix of modern lingerie that had a vintage Victorian influence that was remarkably fresh!

Calendar Girls

During a fun and exciting performance by Bruno Mars singing his newest single “Locked Out of Heaven,” the Calendar Girl Collection came down the sparkling runway. The inspiration behind this collection was from a 1960s pinup calendar where the designers created avant garde pieces representing every month of the year. Each with its own set of wings, each look had a little something special like July with its fireworks and March with its shamrock wings. Truly a fantasy!

PINK Ball

Victoria’s Secret is also well know for its younger lounge line PINK and had to have a collection devoted to it! This year the PINK Ball was the theme and the runway was set up to look like a giant pin ball machine where the models who were dressed as different toys walked to the newest Justin Bieber single “Beauty and a Beat.” A playful and colorful collection, the PINK Ball spoke to the younger generation and was surprisingly sweet!

Silver Screen

The Silver Screen Secret Studios Collection embodied the old Hollywood genre of 1920s film, glamor of the red carpet, and romantic classic boudoir lingerie. With a color palette of silver, white, black and diamonds, the angels glided to the smooth voice of Bruno Mars as he sang “Young Wild Girls.” This collection also had the classic angel wings that were so couture and very large pieces of art. Very reminiscent of some of the first Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows and the first wings the angels ever wore. So romantic and what a tribute to past shows.

Angels in Bloom

The final collection of the night was a true garden fantasy! Angels in Bloom showed off one of traditions of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show: the diamond “Fantasy Bra” worth $2.5 million! Modeled by Alessandra Ambrosio, her “wings, were giant lavender and white orchids that complimented the taupe bra that was encrusted with green, yellow, and pink diamonds. The rest of the collection was influence by nature and flowers such as lily pads, poppies, and many different types of flower you would find in the garden. Rihanna was also able to work the runway during this collection while she sang from her new album, “Fresh Off the Runway.”

What a performance of a runway show from Victoria’s Secret! Talk about making bras and panties more of an art then ever before! Hats off to the producers of such an amazing Victoria’s Secret Runway Show! Can’t wait to see what is in store for next year!

Sugar Skull Art Inspirations

New York Fashion Week Fav’s: Moncler Gamme Rogue

In the spirit of Halloween, I saved the best for last in our series of favorite designers from Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week! One of the wackiest and most acclaimed shows was by Moncler Gamme Rouge in his couture resort wear Spring 2013 Fashion Show! Rouge put on a show that literally catapulted the audience into the future with Japanese inspired looks that had a touch of mod. All of the looks, including the bell boys, reminded me of the 90s movie”The 5th Element” in regards to the fashions worn by the futuristic flight attendants. If ti was the year 2506 and i was going on vacation to a total tropical island in the Andromeda galaxy, I would certainly rock all of Moncler Gamme Rouge‘s looks! Quite inspiring I must say!

Ideas to Decorate Your Halloween Pumpkin

Every year I so look forward to carving pumpkins in preparation for Halloween but every year I find myself racking my brain for new ideas. To inspire not only myself but also you, I found some super easy and fun fashionable ways to decorate your pumpkin for this truly spooky holiday!

Bling-ed Out

What girl doesn’t love to sparkle? I seriously fell in love when I cam across this perfectly glittery patch of pumpkins! Its super easy to do as well! All you need is some rhinestone in all different shapes and sized (preferably ones used for scarp booking) and some super glue! Make sure you wash your pumpkin before apply any jewels, add some glue to the back of the gems and start sticking!

Chevron it to Me!

One of my favorite prints from this season has got to be the chevron print so I though, “Why not put that on a pumpkin!” (Light-bulb!) All you need is some painting tape and your favorite color paint! just tape off the pumpkin in a chevron print and paint over the exposed areas. Let sit to dry and peel off the tape! Voulah! A fashionable chic chevron printed pumpkin!

All Wrapped Up!

If you want to go for a more whimsical dark and ominous feeling on your front porch, just wrap your pumpkins in black tulle and secure with some fun colored ribbon! Its super cheap, easy, and will add a level of sophistication and magic to your festive fall setting!

New York Fashion Week Fav’s: Alberta Ferrati

Continuing our series of our favorite designers from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, our next love love love of the week definitely had to be Alberta Ferrati! Just imagine being along the ocean’s coat at midnight. The light of the moon has created some source of light when you here the song of a siren, who emerges from the dark blue waters. That in a nutshell was the Alberta Ferrati Spring 2013 Fashion Show! With wet hair, natural makeup, and simple sparkling accessories, Ferrati’s models looked as if they were walking on water down the runway. With looks that resembled mysterious yet soft mermaids from the deep, every look had the influence of the ocean and was simply breathtaking! Neutrals and blues were the main focused colors of her collection along with textures that resembled coral, seaweed, and the curls in the wave. One of the most memorable shows, Alberta Ferrati created a collection that every woman would want to wear and we will probably see her looks on the red carpet rather then back in the sea!

New York Fashion Week Favs: Louis Vuitton Spring 2013

Who knew an escalator could become a work of art? This much can be said for the always surprising Louis Vuitton Fall 2012 Runway Show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! Models filed down one of the four escalators two by two in similar looks as if they were descending in a high scale mall! A very new and different approach to a typical fashion show, Vuitton did not disappoint! Not only was the setting of the show intriguing, but the clothing was very striking as well! Bright lemon and lime colors were thoughtfully mixed with bold checkered graphic prints in separates and dresses. A very mod inspired collection, simplicity and structure were a key factor along with the play of neutrals and color. It was a delightfully fresh take on the mod style and I wanted to wear every single look! Hats off to another amazing fashion show from Louis Vuitton!

New York Fashion Week Fav’s: Jason Wu

If you are looking for the hottest young, fresh, trendy designer, you want Jason Wu! I m obsessed with his Spring 2013 line Wu just showed at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week!  Lace and leather were the stronger motifs in Wu’s collection that were so apparently feminine with the detailed cutout, lace patterns, and flattering designs. Wu played up the soft and hard look by mixing structured leather pieces with delicate fabrics and colors. A favorite from fashion critics, we too cannot get enough of Wu’s designs! Let’s just say that if you were a younger up-and-coming star, wearing Jason Wu’s looks would catapult you to the “Trendy It Girl” status overnight! We love you Jason Wu!
