Let’s be honest, modern fashion would not be what it is today without the huge influences of French fashion designer, Coco Chanel! After founding her first clothing boutique in 1910, Chanel launched her first perfume, Chanel No. 5. In the 1920s was when Chanel began to grow as a designer when she began to design clothing. Her lines brought a consistency that circled motifs that became influential pieces such as the little black dress, the tailored suit, and bold statement costume jewelry! With simple sophisticated pieces in her collections, Chanel brought her style of clean lines accented with pearls to her collections by creating clothing that felt it should be worn in the lap of luxury. Chanel is even quotes saying,“luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury.” The popularity of her line grew to be internationally known and evolved into a high fashion line. After her death in 1971, the company was succeeded by Karl Lagerfield who continued the Chanel legacy that still thrives as a major influence in today’s fashions. Coco Chanel will always be an icon in the fashion world and her work and creativity will live on through the line of Chanel!
