Outfit of the Week: Lovely in Lavender! How to Wear Colored Skinny Jeans for Summer

The weather is really starting to warm up, but it’s not time to push all your jeans to the back of the closet yet! For this week’s Outfit of the Week, I styled my lovely friend Kim with our new Flying Monkey skinnies in lavender.

Flying Monkey Skinny Jeans White Lace Top Black Cork Wedges

Colored denim makes rocking skinnies in the summer months look a little fresher, especially with lighter hues like this lavender. Pairing the jeans with a white lace top makes the look super summery, and the Can’t Stop Staring top from Solemio is ultra feminine with the open back, bustier detail and peplum flare. Since the main pieces are so light, the accessories really define the look. A Spring Time in Paris crossbody in white adds a ladylike touch, and a little bright colored jewelry really catches the eye- I picked a bright teal bangle and some earrings to match. And of course no outfit is complete without great shoes, so I added contrast with the Path wedge from Soda in black linen to finish the look.

For Elyse in Ireland!

For Elyse has gone global! Here’s the lovely Whitney rocking an outfit from our shop while visiting Galway, Ireland. She looks super stylish, but also comfortable enough to explore all day long! She sent us these snaps from the Galway city center and the Galway City Museum. She’s wearing the Love Stitch X-Ray Top in peach, which looks like a classic button-down from the front, but then has a surprise open back! Perfect for those brisk walks from site to site. Underneath she’s wearing one of our popular M. Rena Diana Camis, a soft, form-fitting tank with lace details around the top and straps. Whitney loves that her Diana cami doesn’t ride up during the course of the day, and how the subtle feminine details can just peek through the open back of her X-Ray Top. She’s also wearing a pair of Flying Monkey Jeans, our softest and slimmest fitting denim, and the Joia Ultimate Statement Necklace in teal, which adds a pop of color and the perfect finishing touch. Whitney says she’s been getting tons of compliments, and some have even told her she looks very European!

Prada, Brooks Brothers, and Tiffany & Co. in The Great Gatsby movie

The Great Gatsby (in theaters today!), has been making great waves in the fashion world. 1920s inspired design is popping up everywhere, from Prada to local boutiques (such as For Elyse). Here are some of the lines and looks inspired from the movie.

Here’s Carey Mulligan wearing Tiffany & Co. Jewelry, one of the major jewelry designers for the movie. Below right is an art deco head piece designed by Tiffany & Co. for the film that is also available to purchase in their online store. It’s a beautiful piece, an can be seen in the picture above. Below left, Mulligan is also wearing earrings designed by Tiffany & Co. Interested in some 20′s inspired items from the movie? Tiffany & Co. has a whole Gatsby collection, including brooches, rings, necklaces, and even a tea set available for purchase.

Another major designer for Gatsby is Brooks Brothers. They contributed over 1,700 pieces for the film, dressing all the men in reproduction 1920′s suits, some of which are available to purchase. Lastly, Prada was a major designer for the women’s looks. Here are some of the sketches for gorgeous dresses designed just for the movie.

Outfit of the Week: How to Wear The Great Gatsby Inspired Glam

We’re counting down the days until The Great Gatsby hits theaters on Friday, so this outfit of the week is inspired by the old school glamor the movie portrays. The roaring 20′s are long past, but this look combines great new pieces from ForElyse.com with vintage inspired details for an elegant outfit that’s perfect for work or a date to the premiere!

We dressed Angela in classic black and white, starting with a simple pencil skirt like the Zip Off the Old Block skirt from Alythea. We tucked the Lacey Streak top from Sis Sis into the skirt for a slimmer silhouette and a touch of lace. The top mixes classic and modern style with sheer shoulders and a feminine lace panel, so charming accessories are needed to invoke the retro style.

To really emphasize the 20′s style, have fun with flirty accessories- sexy shoes, an adorable bag, and eye-catching jewels are great ways to work some glitz and glamor into your outfit. We pulled the Giant lace pumps from Speed Limit 98 and the Speed Dial clutch- the lace and quilted patent leather lend themselves to the luxury of the time and are always on trend. A big cocktail ring (we chose a golden flower), some stacked bracelets, and a statement piece like the Snake Charming necklace pull the look together.

Black & White from Stars to Street fashion

The black and white trend is back! Ready to rock the style? Before diving into some basic black and white pieces at For Elyse, let’s take a look at some celebrities who have recently been sporting the trend.

First we have Jessica Alba wearing a conservative black and white checkerboard dress, with black heels and a black purse to match. This shows how easy it is to have an already made black and white outfit for those who aren’t sure of how to create their own. It’s simple to buy the base piece and add black and white accessories to it! Second we have Jessica Chastain wearing a lacy white dress with a black blazer and black accessories to match. She chose to get two basic pieces to create her look. Lastly, Miranda Kerr is below in black leather pants, a black and white printed floral top, and a grey coat. A little bit of hard and soft makes this look trendy, and an easy everyday outfit for around town.

Colored and Printed Skinny Jeans

With the vast array of skinny jeans on the market these days, you can be sure you’ll be able to find a pair to suit your mood. Feeling confident? Why not bright red. Playful? How about a floral print. Flirty? Perphaps mint or light teal would be just the thing. Celebrities are no stranger to printed and colored skinny jeans, so let’s take a look at some of my favorite celeb looks in skinnies!

Here’s Taylor Swift in a deep red pair, which she paired with ballet flats, a striped shirt, and matching red lipstick. Kate Bosworth is wearing a more subtle pair of skinnies that have a contrasting leopard-esque print, which couldn’t be more perfect for laid back day of shopping.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Katy Perry looked lovely in the pair of purple floral print skinny jeans she wore on a recent UNICEF trip to Madagascar.

And now for the regining queen of colored and printed skinnies: Jessica Alba. Girl loves her skinny jeans! She rocks them in everything from bright colors to florals, and dresses them up and down for all occasions. Style Challenge: Chambray Shirts

Introducing Chambray into your wardrobe is an easy way to inject a classic/clean feel into your look, but it can be tricky to style. This week we thought it would be fitting to show you some easy ways to wear Chambray. First for a casual look, Paige wore our BLVD Blue Skies Top (available in store only),  Lucy Paris Lace Shorts, and the Sis Sis Tube Top.

I love this look because while it looks really fresh and clean, it’s not overly fussy or complicated.

Outfit of the Week: Denim

This week at ForElyse.com, we’re all about denim, so we wanted to style an outfit of the week that showcased denim. Denim (outside of a pair of jeans) can often be hard to style if you’re going for a more feminine look, so we wanted to show you our take on a soft and romantic denim outfit that doesn’t rely on a dress to do all the work! So we got our model, Angela, all dressed up and then popped out to shoot these photos outside the Stansbury House, a historic home turned museum in downtown Chico. The beautiful garden and weathered front steps made the perfect backdrop!

The lace and floral print soften the look of the denim, while the darker denim top keeps the outfit from appearing washed out. The shirt can be worn open, buttoned half way, or tied at the waist. She’s also wearing a pair of nude wedges–the Delicious Durko Heel, which are the perfect neutral shoe to go with tons of outfits, and red accessories to bring out the subtle red in the jeans.

Mint at For Elyse

Mint is a must have color this season! Don’t know how to wear it? We’ll show you, by breaking down a few outfits piece by piece to make a fabulous mint ensemble for you!

The Casual Day Look

For the casual daytime look we will start with a basic mint piece. We will use the Sis Sis Dontcha Flow Mint Tank in mint. pair this with our MEK Heron Shorts.  Pair this with gold bangles and some  Hazie-H Sandals and the Street Level Stud Backpack. Your day look is ready for a trip to the beach, a day in the sun, or an ice cream run.

Another option for a mint day look is based off our Mint Flying Monkeys. Something to to do with these jeans are to have cuffs on the bottom by rolling the bottom leg of the jean up a few inches. Pair this look with sis sis pocket of sunshine tank , with a mint bandeau underneath, and Celebrity Pink Jean Jacket.  Finish with some super cute Soda Faddy Flats. A great spring look for this season.

The Fun and Fancy Day Look  

 This look we will start with our Sis Sis Star Anise Skirt in mint. This is a flowy and fun skirt. Pair this with the Sis Sis Tailor Made Top in white, tucked into the skirt, buttoned to the top with a mint bandeau underneath.  Add a thick brown belt to the waist, a cute pair of City Classified Rizzo Natural Cork wedges and some earing and multiple braceltes. This is a fashion forward look that will be sure to turn a few heads.

Nice Dinner Mint Look

Outfit Of The Week: Mint Skinny Jeans

Flying Monkey has been sending us their colorful skinny jeans in nearly every shade and it’s hard to pick a favorite, but when we unpacked these mint green skinnies, we collectively oohed and ahhed. Besides being the perfect springtime color, they give any outfit a fresh feeling that we just love. I had so much fun picking out this outfit for our lovely model Paige, and although some items are in-store only, I’ve included a few different options for your viewing and purchasing pleasure!
